I was at school for a concert today and I had the worst anxiety, i don't like going out or being around people for that very reason. I felt like everyone was talking about me, staring at me and I desperatelyt wanted to get out of there. But I held on. I guess

I couldnt breathe it was horrible. I just wanted to cry. When i got home i ran to my room and burst into tears and it took me a good while to control my breathing.

Could I have social phobia?? Its like im almost agoraphobi. Im afraid to leave my house because I KNOW im going to end up in a big crowd and have a meltdown.

The worst is my school is tiny but there's 1200 kids so it's realllly bad a school. For a while I considered changing schools and even dropping out its gotten so bad....

Whats wrong with me, im taking wellbutrin whih is supposed to help with my depression, ADD and anxiety but i feel like its making it worse and i dont know if its working yet.

Hi Brennan, I'm really sorry you had that experience today. Well done for hanging in there and making it through the concert. I have never taken Wellbutrin, but I have heard from others that it can cause additional anxiety. I would definitely speak to your doctor or pdoc about this. He might be able to prescribe a different medication for you which could help you more with your anxiety.

I'm also wondering if you're seeing a counselor? That could help too.

Let us know how you are doing!

How long have you been taking Wellbutrin? Antidepressants can take quite a long time for a difference to actually be felt by the person. Also I second sundog's comment on Wellbutrin possibly causing more anxiety. It doesn't always for every person, but it is worth discussing with your psychiatrist.

I've never heard of anyone taking wellbutrin for anxiety, usually if you have anxiety one tends to stay away from it because it just makes things worse. But than again i can't speak for all because there will be that select few that are fine with it. just from personal experience and knowing alot of people on it (which i don't take welly anymore, because made symptoms worse) usually you will need an add on to your cocktail of meds to help welly is wonderful for motivation worked wonders for my depression but than i had to add a few others to get me straight because it made me manic (well that's what happens when you give a bipolar staright up antidepressants) how long have you been on your meds? is it XL or SR? they mess with your brain till things get straightened out than everything just fits right. Usually when i start new meds i have me back up ativan that get me thru it all. have you had panic attacks before like this or does this seem different? all these things you can ask yourself to help figuare out to see if it's the meds that are pushing you to the edge like this or you feel like your anxiety is just getting worse, either way address it with your p-doc. sorry so lengthy .

Sorry to hear about your rough day. I had the same feelings in high school and it turned out to be social phobia. Are you seeing a counselor? Meds alone won't fix the problem.
