I've been at my job about 3.5 months now. It's really boring and not much in my area of expertise, but some of the people are nice and it pays well. I'd leave it if I had another option, but I don't at the moment. I got an "invitation" to go to a job fair at a big company with a good reputation. I don't know if it's like a real invitation, such that it's true that they "think I might be a good fit", or if they just sent it to everyone who ever applied there.
So my question is, should I go? Reasons not to: - Being rejected from a job is what set off my last big depressive episode - I should try and stay in one place for a while, even if it's not a great place. Reasons to go: - I might finally find a job I really love, which would improve my life so much. I guess i'm really scared to get rejected again, and crash again. I got rejected for a postdoc recently that I didn't even think I cared about, and it upset me. thea |

Can you go for this job fair without interrupting your current job? If yes, then I think you should take a look and don't worry about rejection because a job fair scouting is less formal than a personal one on one interview. Go for it and good luck.

I'd go.
You could just go and walk around. You are not even obliged to apply for anything. You could make the decision of whether or not to apply to anything and risk rejection later. Maybe nothing will interest you. Or maybe there will be a position that you consider worth the risk. It certainly can't be risky to walk around roses |
