Hi babycherry, You don't think you are just really stressed and have anxiety??? My Daughter grinds her teeth. That's how i know she's is stressed, she does it in her sleep and it is so loud. The next morning her jaw is all weird. I went and saw someone about years ago and they said it is a sign of stress. Hope u find your answers on here

Hi babycherry - welcome to PC. I like your avatar lol - it's perfect for this subject...teeth grinding. I have this problem but it's under control now - I wish someone would have told me about this sooner, because I ended up developing TMJ which stands for Temporo-mandibular Joint dysfunction. it's very common for people and children to grind their teeth at night. I also used to hold tension in my jaw during the day and occasionally now I catch myself.

The best thing for you to do, is get a mouth guard made, so you can wear it a night. If you don't, you'll continue this at night and start getting pain like me - you can also wear down your teeth. Luckily my pain is much better now that it's under control. My dentist made me a plastic one but where I bite, it's almost cushiony.

For during the day, I had to make a conscious effort to stop holding tension in my jaw. I do this by being aware of it and keeping my teeth apart -relaxed. When we're tense, we often hold it in our jaws, neck and stomach. If you want to discuss your marriage issues, you can start a thread in the relationship forum. Good luck.

Hi babycherry. Welcome! I'm sorry you're having jaw tension and pain. You might have something called TMJ (TemporoMandibular Joint Disorder)

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Temporo...joint_disorder

It's quite common and it has to do with chronic inflammation of the part of your anatomy where your jaw joins with your skull. You might want to ask your doctor and/or dentist about this.

I grind my teeth badly at night, but luckily I don't have any pain (just, I'm wearing down my tooth enamel!!) My dentist fitted me for a Night Guard, which is a plastic thing that I wear on my upper teeth in bed and it has really helped protect the enamel I have left! A Night Guard is typically recommended for people with TMJ too.

Good luck with all this and let us know how you get on!!

Definitely talk to your dentist. They can make a mouth guard you can wear when you sleep, to prevent teeth grinding and jaw issues. I have TMJ and when I get more stressed I tend to clench my jaw more unintentionally.

Thanks guys for all of your advise. i thought it's TMJ too but actually i grind my teeth at night less than before. during the day, i have this imaginary teeth biting feeling (i think...) but i'm not actually biting/grinding my teeth. so my teeth & the side of my head always feel tired... i know i'm stressing out but i don't seem to find a reason to stress about. i'm not working, don't need to worry about money (at least husband still makes enough to provide for us). also, i notice that i get irriatable from time to time.
anway, i will def. go check out the mouth guard. thanks again for all the advise.
Thanks for this!

I often feel stressed and anxious for no real reason either. That is pretty common with Generalized Anxiety Disorder. It's very frustrating!! Are you getting any treatment for your anxiety? Therapy can be helpful.

Good luck with the Night Guard and let us know how you're doing
