I am starting a new thread since I have so many questions. I just started a new job and currently have no insurance so I have to come off my Anxiety meds, Lexapro and Clonopin, and am slowly weening my self off but and scared of side effects and what can happen. Makes even more nervous! Thoughts????

Please have your Doctor who prescribed these meds assist you in the proper weening. It takes a long period of time to get off some meds, especially Klonopin. Take it very very slowly ! And of course, remember whatever your symptoms were before starting the meds will probably come back, and if you go off the meds too quickly , you might experience some additional ill effects from withdrawal.
Good luck with the new job, but I truly am sorry you have to sacrifice your meds in order to take a new job. Hopefully you will soon be able to afford them again! |

Scaryangie,
You wrote,[...have to come off..meds...scared of side effects...Thoughts?...] I could offer you support from my perspective if you would like. I have an extensive knowlege of the discontinuation of the meds that you are discontinueing and could offer you some helpfull ways to overcome any addiction that you may have to those drugs and offer you my perspective on how to deal with any side effects that you may have in the future. The research that I have comes from experts and doctors in the field of benzodiazepine addiction and withdrawal stratagies. I have also been addicted , accidently by the prescribed drug Klonopin, AKA clonazepam and other names in Canada and th UK.. I have overcome the addiction and it's subsequent withdrawal syndrome many many years ago Lou |

i didn't see that the poster said she was "addicted" to her meds. i read that she doesn't have insurance now and has to come off the meds....the meds that undoubtedly have helped her or she probably wouldn't have been prescribed them. scaring the posters isn't exactly supportive, Lou.

SA,
Let me offer to you some clarification about my post to you. I wrote that I could offer you support from my perspective about discontinueing the drug in relation to side effects and such, { with any addiction problems that [you may] have.] } If my grammatical structure is not concise, I apologise. I wrote to you that I have an extensive knowlege of discontinuing benzodiazepines, which Klonopin, aka clonazepam is in that class of drugs, I also wrote that {also} I have been addicted to clonazepam accidently by being prescribed the drug and overcame the addiction and subsequent withdrawal syndrome. I do not know if you are having withdrawal symptoms now from your discontinuation , you may though, but if you do, I could offer you support from my perspective if you would like. Lou |

Is there any way you could at least stay on the Klonopin since it has a generic version that's probably affordable even without insurance coverage?
I don't have insurance either, but I have to bite the bullet and pay for them out of pocket to keep myself from getting depressed. (I'm gonna run out of the generous samples the County is giving me while I'm adjusting to new meds, and I'm not on a generic-able med yet, so I know all too well how you must be feeling).

Lexapro has a generic, too, and I think it cost something like $1/day or less. I have no experience with Klonopin, so I cannot offer you any support from my perspective.

Thank you all for the thoughts, unfortuantly it looks like I will have to completly get off the clonopin and lexapro because I just moved to Dallas, TX from Chicago, IL and would have to pay for the Dr. visit to get and RX and than also pay for the meds, which I can't do especially with the holidays coming. So, I have been taking 1/2 of both and I sure am feeling it, my anxiety is acting up again. I will now have to start going to 1/4 of each pill a day, than give them both up completly for a few months. So anyone that has been in this situation, what should I expect?
Thanks again for all the thoughts. |

Scaryangel,
You wrote,[...anyone... in this situation, what should I expect?...]. I could offer you support from my perspective via the PM system here if you would like. I have a very extensive referrence -base of helpfull resources for those in your described situation. These referrences come from doctors and experts in pharmacology. If there is the potential for a withdrawal syndrome to appear in your particular case, I also could refer you to experts in that area. I also have a list of doctors that specialise in the attending of the discontinuation of BZd if that could be of interest to you. |
