Just wondering how everyones girlfriends/boyfriends/wives/husbands react to our anxiety. Are they supportive?

Hi Chefguy. My hubby is very supportive and he never pressures me to do anything that I don't think I can handle. He's also very good at reassuring me. But I still have the anxiety issues......And I feel guilty that my anxiety has such a hold over me, in spite of the support. I'm sure my hubby does feel frustrated with my anxiety sometimes too (he'd have to be a saint not to!!). And I'm also extremely frustrated with myself. I wasn't this bad when we got married. I've always had anxiety issues, but they didn't hold me back the way they do now. That's kind of crept up on me in more recent years.

I'm really lucky to be married to someone so supportive. But I wish I didn't need that kind of support. I wish I was stronger in myself.

My husband is supportive but clearly does not understand the root of my anxiety (not that I do either). He tries his best but I can see he is confused when I become anxious in crowds, or closed in spaces or with heights. He just can't understand how something so normal could affect me. He is wonderful if and when I have a panic attack and coaches me through them. I am grateful this hasn't happened for months.

I thought my last boyfriend was a manipulative user so I was glad to let that 'relationship' die. Not only do I not think he was supportive, but I think he realized my frailities and over time took advantage of them and me. I wouldn't be surprised if that were true for some other people here; that they are in relationships with people who take advantage of them. Of course I recognize that I had a part in that 'relationship' because I made him my boyfriend. I've spent the time since I stopped seeing him getting myself together. I see you were asking specifically about anxiety and I'm sorry if my answer was too general for your specific question.

My boyfriends tended to be annoyed, impatient, and didn't understand, but then again I am somewhat ridiculous and wouldn't even let myself in the position to fall for someone and still haven't kissed anyone... and I'm 19.
