Hey, coming off Efexor and I dropped from 300 mg to 150mg so far, and my anxiety has actually reduced.
It's either a coincidence or the anxiety has dropped as a consequence of less drug, but either way, the medication has proved to be all but useless for me. Admittedly it did nothing for me from the beginning and I only went to a higher dose to see if I could stop my bad health anxiety at the time (2009). Which it did, whether by coincidence or not. And that's the only thing it ever seemed to improve. Can't wait to get off this drug altogether. |

Effexor (maybe any SSNRI) can make anxiety worse. But it is usually referred to as something else, like 'alertness'. I took it very briefly (several weeks) and I remember being told that if it made me feel drowsy to take it at night, and if it made me feel more alert to take it in the morning.
