Haven't been on stage in nearly 15 years (theater)... The band I'm in just booked a few gigs - first one is 2 weeks from today. REALLY starting to panic!

I used to vomit before going on stage because I was so terrified of not remembering my lines... but would feel so relieved after the show if I didn't forget my lines. It's a high like no other to put on a good performance.

What if I hit the wrong notes? What if I start playing the wrong song at the wrong time!? Been practicing very hard, but still the thought makes my hands shake. I am considering taking a few of my b/f's panic meds... really don't know how to cope with this.

Hi. If you think your stage fright may be inconsolable, you may want to consider asking your doctor about some performance anxiety meds. I hear they help a lot. My friend has performance anxiety and it helped her SO much. I love performing and what helps me is just thinking "This is just me and my instrument. No on else is here." If performing with a group, try and focus on the group vibe rather than the audience.

I hope this helps!

Thanks so much, Bats&Butterflies! I had no idea there was any such anxiety meds that could be prescribed for temporary reasons. I was always told that meds were every day meds or not at all. Will definitely ask my T about it on Monday (2 weeks is too long w/out T...)! I'll also try blocking out the audience... it's just my first time in forever & a day, so I'm especially nervous. Should be easier for future performances...
Thanks for this!

Yes, there are definitely performance anxiety meds out there. One is propanolol that works really well. I hope this helps. And don't forget that performing is FUN!
