If I go to walk up the stairs at my house, run from one side of the house to the other, etc. I get short of breath. Not the same kind as if you do sprints and then get winded, but more of a lightheaded fatigue and needing to take several breaths like I am very out of shape. I am out of shape but have never had this happen before my panic attacks started.

It doesn't happen every time, but often. I have panic attacks regularly and anxiety all the time it seems. Sometimes i'll have anxiety attacks right after. It has kept me from doing cardio exercise.

I have a fear of heart attacks which leads to worsening panic attacks.

Do any of you have constant "winded" or out of breath feelings?

For something like this it would be prudent to see a doctor to rule out anything physical. You don't want to take chances with your respiratory system.

Panic attacks do cause me to run short of breath (among other things), but I can tell the difference between running short of breath due to panic, and breathing heavy because I just did 4 sets of stairs bringing in groceries and being out of shape.

Please be careful with your health. It's really the only thing you've got.

Good luck and let us know.

I had an EKG and chest x ray from my doc and he listened to my heart and said it was all good.

After I see my new therapist in a few days and try the correct meds, I will go in for more testing if it isn't better. It doesnt happen all the time, but then it will. Usually I will feel anxious afterwards or go in to an attack. Don't know if it is the chicken or the egg situation.

It feels like the panic type of shortness of breath versus the "i just ran up 4 flights of stairs" feeling, but it happens when I exert myself mostly.

After a little more research, i found out it is dyspnea. I sure hope it goes away with new meds. I want to exercise again and get healthier but can't.
