Ok so I used to have horrible and I mean horrible anxiety at night. One way I kinda slowed down and youre gonna think this is stupid but it helped me....Id mix up chocolate milk with milk and syrup. then id go to my room where it was quiet and drink it slowly spoonful by spoonful, like eating soup. It was yummy and cold and I was comfy in bed and I would just chill. When I tell people this I dont think they get it. It really helped me chill out and take a moment to enjoy something so simple.

I can totally see how that would be relaxing and something to look forward to. It makes sense to me.

Calcium in milk is calming, right? & chocolate ... well, chocolate is chocolate. Does good stuff for brain chemistry, serotonin maybe? Whatever ...
Yep, Halliebeth, makes absolute sense to me too.

I think it is an excellent coping skill. What it does is keep you focused on the moment, giving time for your brain to wind down and your body to relax. Great job!

Thank you!! I'm going to try it. I think a lot of the times people misunderstand anxiety and the need for coping skills to go with it.

Choclate milk before bed, better than a cigaret, its part of my nighttime routine for calming down before bed.
