Hi All,
I've had symptoms of tingling in my arms and one leg for about 5 months now. It comes and goes in intensity, but always there. I also feel like I have butterflies in my stomach and I jump easily at loud sounds. I've been tested for everything and there is nothing medically wrong with me, so that leaves anxiety. The thing is - the only thing I'm anxious about is the anxiety itself. My life is actually going quite well, now. I wake up in the morning thinking about being anxious - then of course I get more and more anxious. It's a vicious cycle. Distraction helps - but it's hard to distract myself when I'm relaxing at night. Short of meds (which I am going to pursue) anybody have any suggestions? Thanks. |

everyone is anxious about being anxious. That is a huge part of the problem.Thats how the whole things starts....typically people start avoiding things that they THINK will make them anxious and then it just kind of snowballs....It happens to me too and Ive been having them for like twenty years, You think I would "get it" by now...Hugs....

Ijust started feeling anxious and that is it i usually get anxious worrying about anxiety...im trying my best to get past it but its a sob. If anyone has any suggestions besides medicnes i would also like to know..trying to break the circle...thats what im trying

Exact same symptoms as you. Is there a lot of stress in your life right now?
I'm starting to deal with this with meds and counselling. Hope it works! |

Hi gossamer,
It sounds like your describing classic anxiety symptoms, and they seem to be coming right out of the blue. Cognitive therapy can help us to reframe the experience from feeling terrified to feeling uncomfortable but coping. That is the key to the illness in my view, and I've had it for most of my life. The reframing involves reducing your fear of anxiety down to a managable level. I have found it to be quite effective. Also, anxiety disorders can go away, or go into remission for a time, but we still live in fear of the return, which is another reason for giving therapy a try. There is life after anxiety, and it can be quite a good one. Good thoughts, M |

your comment is very conforting because i also have live with anxiety most of my life and it's true my anxiety went into remission for a couple of years and now recently i'm anxious again plus i'm a hypochondriac so i'm having some help now sometimes you just need meds as much i you may think you don't ..

Thanks everyone. Knowing I'm not alone helps also. I have an appointment with my GP next week. I'll go from there. Some days I am able to keep a handle on the anxiety and not let it bother me as much. Sometimes not. The thing with me, is I'm 39 years old and never had it before. Seems many people with anxitey have had it all their life.

yea it is kinda hectic right now, but i think it got triggerd by a health scare, turns out im fine, but the anxiety has not left yet. The only reason it go t to me was because i hjust had a baby. now i have to worry about my health a little more...
