Hi,

Im new to the forums my name is Amanda Im 23 and Ive had gad panic disorder and ocd tendencies since I was sixteen. I am 14 weeks pregnant and my anxiety is through the roof. Worse than usual so bad that they gave me ativan because my stress is worse for the baby than ativan is. My question is how hard is it raising kids with this disorder? Any advice? I Cant wait to be a mom but I have to think what if I have a panic attack when Im with him or her?

I have two kids a 2 and 3 year old... My panic has gotten pretty bad in the last four months. I will be honest, I have had panic attacks so bad that I have had to call my husband home from work, or ask a friend to come stay with me. However, it can get better.. and it doesn't have to be that bad. However, while I am having a panic attack when my kids are at home... I just try to go in another room, call my T, excersize, watch some tv.. anything to get my mind off of things. It is not something that I want my kids to see, but it happens and I am working to get better. Are you on daily meds? Are you in thearpy? These are things that can help manage the anxiety. GL, you got this!! Congrats on the pregnancy!

I have had them for a long time. During my pregnancy they got worse. We (baby and I made it through ok) with no meds.
My little one is 16 months...it is rough especially when they are newborns and your hormones are racing mixed with sleep deprevation. I'm a single mom and went through it all alone...still am.
I am new but when I first came here someone posted some coping tips for them on my wall. It won't let me copy and paste..maybe they can help you if you can see the wall. ?
After baby is born benzos can be a miracle..although be careful and get medical advice first.
I promise it will be ok...just try and be kind to yourself.

BTW- I can't describe this properly except to say that once baby is born "mommy insticts" take over and you WILL find a way..They won't go away but you will get through them.
