Hi All,

I'm going for a routine colonoscopy on Monday morning. I have had two before, so In general it's not a big deal. However, I had my foot oprerated on almost two years ago now and several things did not go well. (1) the anesthesiologist lifted up the front of my gown and got himself a good look, and (2) the podistriatrist messed up my foot, and I've been n pain every day since. After Monday's outing my next medical priority will be to get my foot taken care of.

Any support will be appreciated.

EJ

Prayers PleaseEJ Prayers Please

You are definately in my prayers.

I am a surgical assistant and think that it is awful, what the anesthesia provider did! They do need access to place their EKG leads but usually are very careful about keeping peoples modesty secure.

I would like to suggest that you mention your experience to the anesthesia probider on monday when they talk to you. Let them know you have had a bad experience and they will certainly understand and try and make you more comfortable. After doing this job for 22 years, it has been my experience that most patients don't communicate their concerns to their caretakers because of fear - and that is soooooo understandable. So, please, make sure and mention your experience and anxiety about this issue to them on Monday.

Good luck,
Songbird

SongBirdand Daisy -

Thanks for your note. It wasn't a matter of any EKG connections. I really would like to say I imagined the whole thing, but I didn't.

I also woke up near the end of the surgery. I could tell the doctor was still working on my foot, so I knew to move carefully. I just wanted to move my back a little, and "my friend" the anesthesiologist pushed me down on the table. This all happened in a hospital close to where we live now -- a rural area. The guy just did not have a professional manner.

Where I'm going Monday is back in a very nice area, so hopefully it will be a whole different kind of experience.

Thanks,

EJ

Sky -

I had a great gynecologist when I lived in Orlando, FL. Very competent and just a very nice man. On my routine exam, he found a small polyp, and I was off for my first colonoscopy. Anyway I think this will be my fourth. The anesthesia at the last hospital was simply wonderful. I was sorry to hear my doctor had switched to another hospital.

Thanks for trying to get my mind on other things.
