I've only had a few, what my doc said sounded like full blown anxiety/panic attacks, and I have pills to use only as needed. Klonopin and Ativan if at night.
Well, now I had, a gagging attack, no nausea, no vomitting. Just a horrible constant gagging, almost enough to make my throat raw. Has anyone ever had this? I had to drive home and take a Klonopin, and it went away. I assume it was being at a peak of super, duper, stress that triggered this new symptom, eh? Next pdoc visit I'll ask, unless it happens again, which I hope not. It started a little again when I went back to mom's. I see a connection right there. Panic attacks, gagging without being sick??
Enough of my rambling, has anyone had this happen while under deep stress?

Yep!

I used to do this alot and be sick.......now I just do alot of gagging!

Definately stress-related.

I found sucking sweets helps, and trying not to think about how awful I feel...........

Much love to you. Cos it's awful going through that. Panic attacks, gagging without being sick??

Thanks for your reply, it's much appreciated.
Bad enough I have learned what these attacks are, 2yrs ago, for no reason as I was driving I got one, but no gagging thing, trembling, couldn't focus my sight, cold sweat, racing heart, I literally thought I was dieing/heart attack or whatever, I did calm myself down,by the time I got to the raptor center, the fellow volunteers said I was as white as a sheet, I told them what happened, they said that was a panic attack and sometimes they come on without warning.
Later that week, GP and pdoc confirmed that's what is happening. Now the gagging thing? Can't hardly brush my teeth and it happens too!!!!!! Panic attacks, gagging without being sick?? Panic attacks, gagging without being sick??

Yes, I used to get this a lot. Usually accompanied or followed by a massive headache. Thankfully, it hasn't happened in a while as it is very frightening.

Hope you feel better soon.

Crying isn't a sign of weakness. It's a sign of having tried too hard to be strong for too long.

Yes, my mother's friend did the same thing...dr ran scope and everything. He questioned her further and realized it was from massive anxiety/panic. I don't know that it should be taken for granted that that's what it is, but it surely could be.

It's a really good idea to talk to dr next time just to make sure.

(((((((((((((roe))))))))))))))) i know it's so hard right now. hoping you rest and peace.
