I am having severe anxiety problems .. I feel like I'm falling apart. Could a dr. give me something to calm me down? Is there such a thing? I'm desperate.

Yes there are quite a few options. I take Ativan and it helps.

I'm sorry you're feeling such anxiety. I know how bad that is. Crumbling

Hi Esther,
There are several options regarding medication. All you have to do is tell your doctor the way you feel and ask him if he will give you something for your nerves. I have taken valium, vistoril, risperdal, and am now taking Klonopin. It works great for me. Please feel free to PM me if you ever need someone to talk to. Hugs!

Take Care,
Angel

EV, your dr. can give you something to take as needed -- most of them don't like to prescribe benzos on a regular basis because they can be addictive. I have taken a number of them over the years and currently have a stash of Xanax for when things get bad. So far I haven't had to take it more than a couple of days in a row.

I hope you feel better soon.

Yes your doctor can give you something and most do prescribe anti-deressants because they also work for anxiety because alot of times depression and anxiety go hand in hand - anxiety is also a symptom of depression.

If you are on antidepressants this might mean your meds need to be adjusted dosage wise or a complete change to a different one.

either way med change or need for a medication, talking to your physician or prescribing psychiatrist about this is probably the best thing and worth it.

Feeling like you're falling apart is a rather disconcerting experience... I felt like that for a while earlier on this year and it felt like my whole identity was just disintegrating. Perhaps that's what you mean, or maybe you mean that you feel like you just can't cope with things any more and like you're just breaking down, but that feeling too is not exactly pleasant at all. I think the best solution to that is to physically remove yourrself from stress for a week or so - but the problem is that's not usually possible! I've not taken any anti-anxiety meds but they will probably work if your dr prescribes you some.

Hope you feel better soon! Please update when you can Crumbling
