Anxiety is driving me crazy (and that's not a long road for me). Ever since I moved (from my small apt to a large tri-level house), everything is causing me to worry. I have a degree in psychology and half my credits towards my Master's in counseling, so I know all the methods of dealing with anxious thoughts and panic. But, they do nothing. My PCP put me on Xanax and that seems to take a bit of the edge off, but really does nothing to reduce my overall anxiety. I want to run out to the ER and just start screaming so they will put me on the psych ward. That's the only place I can think of where I will feel safe. But, of course, that's not an option. So, all I really do is worry all day, take some Xanax and wait to go to bed, popping an Ambien to get me through the night. Any ideas, from anybody?

I don't have any coping ideas you wouldn't already know, I just wanted to give you a hug. Anxiety is awful!

Hello CBC, Most of the things we are anxious about never happens, but you know this already. I am empathetic with you because I know how you feel.

ColoradoWelcome!!! I'm sorry you feel anxiety, and wow you are so lucky to have all that kowledge, i would love to have that much knowledge especially in pshyciatry. It's funny to me, but not for you, the line you said you wanted to just scream and end up in the pshyc ward because i feel that way every day. I find so much comfort in the pshyc wards,, I'm almost ashamed to admit it because I was always the one who had to be dragged there by ambulance. Now i find it comforting, but haven't been there in over 5 years. I hope you can find a different med to help you or a doc and T also.
