Hello. I'm new. I have depression and an anxiety problem. I can converse like this, I do okay face-to-face (only if it's one-on-one), and with people I know. But I have a real hard time calling places like when I need to make an appointment or order food. I can't work, because the only jobs that would hire me involve telemarketing (lots of phone calls...) or fast food (too many people). Whenever I think about trying to get a job, I think about the jobs I can do and I get so scared and nervous. Sometimes I even shake. Even ordering a pizza sets me off.
Some days I can do it. Some days I can at least order a pizza. Others, I actually have to fight with my husband to get him to do it. He seems to think that if I am forced to do it, I will get over it. He just doesn't get what happens to me. Is there anyway to get through the attack and do what needs done? Is there anyway for me to handle getting a job? I had to quit my therapy sessions because we can't afford them. I don't know what to do now. |

Hi and welcome..I do not know for sure but I believe Goodwill hires people who have issues..Also maybe you could work at a vets office cleaning cages, less people...or file? I know its hard I too have anxiety issues and some of the things others find easy for me are so hard. Oh and maybe you could check out jobs online?

There are always those who would try and push you aver your obstacles instead of letting you climb over them safely...

Hello LoriaAmnekia, Welcome to Psych Central! ![]() Anxiety can be very distressing. Is it possible for you to find a way to have therapy again? I don't know what part of the world you are from but maybe a charity could help you pay for it?............. or insurance? Are there any self-help groups in your area? You can also buy relaxation tapes which help you to relax and help with the breathing. Hyperventilating can make you feel even worse. Self-talk can help, reasuring yourself that nothing dreadful is going to happen. Use distractions when you are out, ie. focus on something else to take your mind off the panic. Hope you can find some help. Take care.
