I am 18. no history of illness nor any trauma lately. I have become very sensitive to sounds.. Doing the dishes tears me up with jitters and gives me a headaches. I have been getting a lot of headaches lately.. all in the same place towards the very top of my head. advice lease? anything would be helpful... this sound sensitivity thing is really bothering me and makes it hard to do almost everything. please help.. please..

PoetoftheRiver, you need to see a therapist or pdoc if you do not already have one. This would be to help assess the source(s) of your current psychological state.
The need for you to work with a mental health professional to develop the plan of therapeutic treatment with goals are required to maximize the best and most prudent way for your recovery.

Here are a few links that may lead you to answers that your situation is asking:

Psychological Tests and Quizzes
Post-traumatic Stress - Forums at Psych Central
Health Support - Forums at Psych Central
Dissociative Disorders - Forums at Psych Central
Anxiety, Panic and Phobias - Forums at Psych Central

You can also use the search function button for this web site. See below:

HELP! please.... i don't know what to do....

Use the post instead of thread option and type in the phrase/words you wish to search for at PC forums.

First, get a good physical exam to be sure there is nothing "medically" wrong.
(also have to ask, are you doing anything or not doing something you have been doing--like using any drugs/alcohol etc?)
18 is a tough age...if you are still at home, do you have plans to move out? Are there changes you want to make but also fear?
Are things from the past returning?
Take care of yourself. You will get through this.

Hi there - I have FM - and massive sound sensitivities too - I found noise cancelling headphones help a great deal. Even listening to your favorite music, LOUD can take the edge off of doing the dishes - the loud bangs, and high pitches of it - I found that I also have sensory issues in regards to the smells, the water, and stuff - so cheap gloves (like in the pharmacy/walmart) and great smelling lip stuff - helps me do dishes. I literally could not do them for about a year or two with out having a massive breakdown. I still did them - but it was pure hell. Now I do very well with them. You should probably see a medical doctor about the memory loss, and headaches, along with the sensitivity to smell, just to make sure nothing serious is going on.

i don't nor have i ever used any kinds of drugs or alcohol. i have begun to notice i can hardly sleep now too.. i go to bed and lie awake for hours just trying to sleep. i take sleep aids and have tried different types, but so far no luck. i have been getting roughly 4 to 5 hours of sleep every night. it is starting to really take a toll on me. i cannot afford a check up with any kind of doc. home life is fine. and thanks on the tip about the noise canceling headphones. it helps some.
