Hi I've had anxiety and depression for around 25years I take anti depressant meds that don't seem to work, however my new C P N has discussed taking diazepam to relieve and help me with the horrific anxiety I have always suffered.
Only a low dose to take as and when needed.
Has anybody else used this med for anxiety? Did it work?
Any advice or input would be great
Take care
J

it is always good to have something on hand to take when things get really tough. I take klonopin myself which is also a benzo. what I don't like is that benzos are addicting so I take it as infrequently as possible. as I suffer from anxiety daily, I take buspar, which is non addicting. it does a good job at just taking the edge off so I can function on a daily basis. good luck.

I've been taking this for a few years at night to help with sleep/anxiety. I used to take lorazepam and I prefer Diazepam because it seems to last longer and when I decrease the dose I don't feel withdrawal as it has a very long half life. Hopefully you can keep it at a low dose and don't increase so you wont become too dependent on it. Hope you get relief soon!

Yes. It works. I went years without meds, at first they weren't available, and then I was reluctant, but---diazepam is fine. Try it. You decide.

Hi all thank you for the replies, the drs in the UK are very reluctant to prescribe diazepam so fingers crossed. Sounds like it works for you guys.
I have nitrazapam but taking them during the day to calm myself is a joke as I also have ME so it would be a battle to stay awake.
My nurse said she would be with my when this is suggested and after all these years I also have a crisis plan in place.
May I ask what's buspar medication? I've tried nearly all anti depressants and we are looking for a more effective one than sertraline which I have been taking for 12 years and has not helped in any way.

Thanks for all the advice
J
