I've been finding this to be a somewhat common thing for me to do, but when I decide to be at a certain place at a time, I will wake up on the day I'm supposed to go and have extreme worry about it, such as what time to leave (I don't have a car, so I rely on walking and public transportation), how I'm going to get there, etc. It has caused me to miss hanging out with people and going to walk-in meetings with academic counselors. I really don't like it, especially since I'll be perfectly fine thinking about going and planning it out days before the supposed event, but when I wake up the morning I'm supposed to go, I feel paralyzed and can't get out of bed. When I do get out of bed, though, I can still manage to somehow talk myself out of these things, even if I was looking forward to it just yesterday.
I'm sick of this cropping up and delaying and even preventing me from going places and doing things I want to do. |

OK there's a simple solution to this. If you know what to do, plan it on a piece of paper and carry it around so that you know you have to do it therefore you won't worry about it.

I do that sometimes (used to do it a lot more in the past. My therapists says that you just have to persevere through the worry, then you'll see that everything ends up okay...I agree that writing out directions can help you not worry.

Right now I am working through the Mindfulness and Acceptance Workbook for Anxiety which is teaching me how I am putting my life on hold because of my worries anxiety and fear. I too let my worries keep me from going places, so much that I am agoraphobic. the book teaches that you learn to experience your worries anxieties and fears for what they are and live your life along side them. so far I have been able to go shopping a few extra times but it is slow going.
