Today was the first day of class and I wasn't worried at all since it's a easy subject for me. I'm taking medical terminology and already students are struggling with the class. I completed the whole chapter while everyone was completing the first exercise. The prof called some students up to the board to write certain medical words and to pronounce them. I knew the answer and how to pronounce it, but as soon as she called my name my heart went 1000 miles a second. I wrote it on the board correctly and pronounced it correctly which the teacher praised me for since it was a rather hard word to pronounce. Once I got back to my seat I noticed I got hives and my body was shaking. I was trying to take notes, but my arm wouldn't stop shaking and it was rather annoying. After the class was over I was so happy and excited how easy it will be to get an A, but as soon as I got to work I got the runs since my body was still in freak out mode. I don't know how to calm my body down when mentally I'm okay. I gave myself a pudding as a reward for doing well and the shaking has ceased.
Does anyone else experience this? When you mentally calm and nothing is wrong, but your body panics, gets shaky, heart beats faster, nausea, etc.?

You may of felt mentally calm, but there must have been something about the situation, on a subconscious level, that was threatening/anxiety provoking. Perhaps performance anxiety? You did say you freaked out when you were called upon, despite the fact you were extremely confident about the materials being thought.
Hopes this helps. |

Thank you for your response and it must have been. I wonder if anyone else has problems with subconscious related anxiety.

Isn't PTSD subconscious related anxiety? I just thought if that since it was discussed in therapy today.

I've had that before, I don't really have an answer on how to make it calm down though

Subconsious, physiological. Either way, how do we, myself, included, stop the physical manifestations of anxiety, when clearly, the mind is calm and not in panic?
Should have seen me in court, the other day, after reading my exes typed up, probably from his attorney, affidavit. Was it anxiety or rage?? My body did settle down, but um, it was visible, that I was shaking. Breathing exercises don't seem to do the trick, do they? Are you prescribed any anti-anxiety meds? |

I take xanax which helps a lot. It generally will stop these symptoms from manifesting. I also take zantac since my anxiety causes upset stomach and heart burn.
