Climacophobia is the fear of stairs, fear of climbing stairs and fear of falling down stairs. Does anyone else have this?

I can walk up steps but I'm afraid of going down them. I literally cling to the railing and I go one stair at a time people laugh it's humiliating. I also have a fear of escalators and can't use them at all.

I have to walk down a certain way on stairs in houses and with stone stairs I'm cautious. I hate stairs made of metal mesh and concrete on high floors. I get so much anxiety from them it's ridiculous. With stairs made of metal mesh I just can't do it, I'll will do almost anything to avoid them.

Because of how most basement staircases are set up with someone being able to reach through the steps and trip you I can't do basements at all. Which is ok because I also have an irrational fear of basements that stems from thinking spiders are hiding everywhere down there. What's funny is I know these fears are just in my head but that doesn't make them any less real to me

I do. I have been made fun of for it. People can actually see the fear in my eyes when I approach steps. I white knuckle the railing all the way, Baby! I am not making light of my fear but embracing it as a part of who I am.

Escalators make me feel nauseous and panicky. I have never talked about it to a therapist though. Maybe I should. I have been working on so many other things that this has never seem to come up.

I don't like basement stairs either, I live in a basement so I don't have much of a choice I don't understand how stairs can be so thin and have open spaces between each step, yet be sturdy. It doesn't seem logical to me and being able to see down them from underneath makes it worse. I hate when concrete stairs from high places are tinted orange from rust on their sides. It gives me bad vibes about them.
