Lately have had a slew of somatic symptoms of my anxiety, gi/digestive issues, neck pain, back pain, foot pain (honestly a lot of different kinds of pain). Anyone else get these and if so, what helps the physical aches and pains because OTC painkillers aren't cutting it

Hmmm. Makes me wonder about my recent neck pains. It never occurred to me that they could be anxiety related. Anyway, I do experience a tension in my head when I am anxious and normally I start doing yoga poses to relax my body; stretch the muscles in my back and legs, releasing the tension there.

Hopes this helps.
Thanks for this!

I have a lot of these pains too...most that you mention, and I know it's from anxiety. I have had neck/back issues for most of my life as I have been extremely anxious since I was a kid. And you are right, OTC meds don't do a thing. I have tried massage, acupuncture, the chiropractor, etc as well.
I also take topamax for my migraines as I have been getting those since elementary school. My neurologist is also an osteopath and is always freaked out by how tight my neck/back is. Oh, I have also tried skelaxin and another muscle relaxer (I forget the name). Neither helped much and one gave me hives. I hope someone else has a useful answer here!

Yes I get all these symptoms, due to anxiety. Some days just moving hurts my body.
I take Klonopin and it does seem to help.

I really hate taking benzos during the day unless I'm on the verge of a panic attack. I've also tried massages which work for about a day, maybe two. Klonopin though is probably one of the anxiety meds that works best for me in preventing the panic attacks.

I can always tell when I get more anxious because my back and shoulders tighten up and specific spots in those areas get really sore. On one of my good friends, Mayo Fascial Release (sp?) worked wonders on her neck, back and shoulders. I haven't gotten the chance to try it yet but I hope to soon.

I used to get a lot of body pain, not sure if it was due to depression or anxiety but painkillers didnt work. As I have found the right treatment for myself it has gone away. Some days I get sore but I do some relaxation or distraction and it fades away. So glad it doesnt affect me anymore cos it was no fun. to you guys.
