I'm a 28 year old with 2 kids. My 7 year old daughter has severe ADHD combined type, and my 4 year old son is, well, out of control in so many ways. The past 3 or 4 years I have been having a lot of trouble when they both act up at the same time. They are out of control and there is nothing I can do to stop it and I just feel so helpless and lost and scared. It starts getting hard to breathe, and I KNOW I'm breathing, but it's like there just isn't any oxygen getting through and I can feel my heart trying to pound it's way out of my chest and my face and hands start going tingly then numb (this has happened before when I hyperventilate, but when these attacks happen it starts before I get to that point). I just get so scared and i feel like someone is squeezing my chest and lungs and heart and I don't know what to do. I have no insurance so going to the doctor isn't an option so I'm kind of on my own with this.

Hi Katie_25, welcome to the forum

What you're describing does sound like a panic attack. I experience the numb/tingly feeling as well as everything else you listed when I'm having one.

I don't know if you're able to go to a sliding scale clinic or not since you don't have insurance but it would be a good idea to get a full checkup with a doctor and complete blood test just to rule anything else out first.

Welcome, Katie. I would do some research on breathing technics and mediation, both have been shown to help with panic attacks. Both helped me to get past panic attacks I used to have. Good luck.

Thank you both, I will definitely look into clinics in the area and do some research on breathing techniques. Meditation I might try, but I think i have ADHD, every time I have tried to meditate before it takes about 5 seconds before I can't take it anymore and open my eyes to see what that random noise is lol.
