I have never had insomnia before. But it's an added bonus now that my anxiety and panic disorder is getting bad. It's a pretty vicious cycle. I get crap sleep at night and then I am more anxious during the day. And I can't take a nap because I always wake up with a panic attack. And I used to love my naps. I have been experiencing this rather scary thing. I'll be falling asleep when all of the sudden I feel like I'm paralyzed and can't breathe. Like sleep paralysis but a much shorter duration.'
I'm so tired. I just want to sleep. I already fall asleep exhausted around 8pm but it doesn't matter. I wake multiple times per night. I need to sleep with the tv on which I'm sure isn't helping. And my 3 year old sleeps in bed with me. Which he isn't a problem unless he's sick which has been a lot now that he;s in preschool.
I don't want to take yet another medication to control this. But I don't know what to do. Any help/hope for me?
Hugs from:

I know that since you have a small child you might not be as able to do 'me-time' things...but what helps me is to have a nighttime routine. chamomile tea, relaxation techniques, a hot bath, soothing music, a slightly boring book...I've had insomnia for years. those things help but it's still a problem. after I tried sleep meds a few years ago it only made it worse in the longrun, so I understand why you don't want to take meds.
I have to have the tv on to sleep too! I know they say it's not helpful...but I strongly disagree. I wake up twice as often and get half as much sleep if my room is peaceful and quiet.

You could get Lemon Balm and Calm drops, both of which are organic, and homeopathic. The lemon balm you squirt into a 1/4 cup of luke warm water and drink that is suppose to help you sleep (I also put it in chamomile tea), the calm drops will help with minor anxiety, so if you take it at bed, before you have anxiety it might help

Oops....I just saw the sleep issues board. Thank you for your suggestions. I think I need to make a trip to the health food store. FrayedEnds...Im with you on the tv. I tried to sleep without it and I had some weird dreams. Like my mind needs that background noise otherwise it has my own thoughts to deal with. Here I am awake at 630.. because my three year old decided it was a good time for cartoons. :P I need a nap.

Is the tv, for your son? The more exhausted you become, the worse everything else is.

How difficult, would it be, to reclaim your sleep space? Because, sounds like you need sleep!
