Hello.

I have had a bit of anxiety tonight. My cousins and my Grandpa are over and we were eating dinner.

It's just so hard, i feel like i can read people's minds and i get flooded with messages, and sometimes it is overwhelming and i need a break. So i came up to my room for a break.

I don't know if i have a 'delusion' about reading people's minds or whether it is just a gift of mine, i hope it is just a gift. Although sometimes it leads to massive confusion- and i was hospitalised for it earlier in the year.

At those times i feel like am going crazy.

Back to the anxiety- It's really quite hard when i notice that people aren't happy, for example, if i've accidently offended them, if they're feeling nervous and laughing at jokes that they don't think are funny, even if i think they are attracted to me. I seem to know exactly what they are thinking and often it is pretty bad- they don't want to eat more cos they think they will get fat, they're confused about their sexuality, they're depressed about getting older. All this kind of stuff. I guess you can understand why i get overwhelmed Anxiety over dinner.

So i was drinking a little tonight to cope with that - but we ran out of scotch and Dad wouldn't let me open another bottle (i had just had one drink), and then he reluctantly gave me some wine, but he thinks i'm an alco, but i'm not at all!

This must be quite unnerving and overwhelming at times. Have you shared with them your gift? What do your friends say about this? I don't know anyone who can read minds. I do know if you work or live around the same ppl a long time you can get to kind of know how they think and if they are habitual, you could learn what "phrase" they would think or say in any given situation.

What is your DX, along with anxiety? I would hope you could find a doctor to give you a medicine to help you, rather than self drugging with alcohol. TC

No i haven't told anyone except Mum that i feel like i can read minds. Of course i would tell my psychologist (she is away at the moment) and a psychiatrist if i had one ( i am trying to get one but there is a very long wait!)

Mum is not sure. No-one is sure whether i am having some kind of a delusion or voice...or this is JUST ME.

One argument for the 'gift' idea is that the messages that flood me, often make sense in terms of the person- what their personality is like, what i know they worry about, and what i know about them. Infact, it may be me just guessing what's on their mind, based on my perceptions and what i know about them.

Sorry i don't really believe in diagnosies, but doctors have liked to call me 'schizoaffective'.

Yes it would be nice to just be relaxed, without using alcohol, but i don't have that luxury Anxiety over dinner

Thanks for your support and help!

xx

YW. I am somewhat empathic also, and not schizoaffective. I hope you can learn to deal with this, use it, or at least accept it. I was always interested in finding out if my info was correct Anxiety over dinner Until I proved to myself that yes, indeed, my intuitive processes were giving me correct date, I wasn't too sure what was going on.

TC! And welcome again! Anxiety over dinner
