I don't even know what to do...

I have my intake appointment tomorrow w/ my university counseling center, and I'm so anxious I feel like my head's exploding. I barely talk, so the thought of actually going through with this is huge. The counselor who did the phone interview already hinted that I would probably be referred out b/c the description of my anxiety/ocd symptoms seem like more than can be dealt with in the 12 session limit. I can't go anywhere else, though, since I can't afford to pay out of pocket, and using my insurance (still on my parents') would mean having them find out. I think I might call and cancel in the morning...

I encourage you to go, even if the counseling center at school only offers 12 sessions. If you're worried about being able to talk, I'd write a list of concerns you have, as well as what brought you there in the first place. That way, if you clam up, you can at least read from the list?

It's worth a try, 12 sessions or not. It's a step in the direction of taking care of you!

Go! Like a person said above, write down a list. The first time I went for help I felt like you not knowing what to say etc. so I wrote like 2 pages and just brought it in and started reading them off talking. It will help regardless. So go, you'll feel better with the right attitude. You gotta tackle anxiety/ocd whatever you're going through head on or it just gets worse trust me.
Thanks for this!

Thanks for asking

I ended up going, even though I literally was still thinking about canceling ten minutes before the appointment started. I was still really, really nervous and shook the entire time, but the counselor was really nice. He said that because my anxiety is so intense right now (and because they don't treat ocd symptoms), I should be referred out to a specialist and medicated, but since I can't and won't do that right now (I'm still on my parents' insurance and I don't want them finding out), I could use my twelve sessions at the counseling center.
He said that in his opinion, I would benefit from longer term therapy, but that if this was all I had access to at the moment, they would do everything in their power to help.

Also, he did say that severe social phobia seems to be the main issue, and that it's very possible that the ocd symptoms are just a way of dealing with those fears. He does want me to talk to my parents, though, which I'm not really okay with yet. I got assigned to the counselor I will work with for the next three months, and my first real appointment is on Wednesday.
