I'm put off work right now because of stress and anxiety, and I need to learn some coping skills to deal with anxiety at work and in public when I start to feel it coming on. I have social anxiety, and I feel anxiety at work because I constantly feel like I'm doing everything wrong, and I'm stupid.
Tips would be greatly appreciated!! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk - now Free

There are several techniques you can learn. Breathing is one that you should master. Breathing is the first thing to change when you Alger anxious. Remember to take the deep breaths from you diaphragm. Also you can look into learning progressive muscle relaxation and visualization techniques. There are more type but just remember not to get discouraged when doing the relaxation. Not all of them will work. The surest one to work is breathing. Another thing you can do when you feel it come on is stop what you are doing and focus on something you love to do. Have something you like to do with you and start doing that. Just to get your mind off of what is making you anxious. Make sure the thing you do gets your full attention. Also one thing that helps is when you get the thoughts that make you anxious do not react to them. Do not associate an emotion to them and they will start to lose the impact on you. Hope this helps. I know how bad you must feel when this happens. Just be strong. You are not alone.

What do I do if I am at work, if its a fast paced environment like fast food? I can't just stop and take a break. Any suggestions besides deep breathing?

Have you tried any meds yet? Have you gone through a course of cognitive behavior therapy?

I'm on 150mg lamotrigine, 40mg celexa and 50mg topiramate.
I've done a group therapy session for people with anxiety and depression that did help a lot but I happened to end up in the emergency room with panic attacks about going to work on the day I finished my course. That was the day I was put off. I'm on a waiting list for another course. I just really want to get myself straightened out so I don't have to be put off work again. I'm feeling anxiety just at the thought of starting a new job with new people, something completely different. I've been at my job for over 5 years. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk - now Free
