ok for those of you who don't know what slenderman is google it and you wil see.

I remember that since I was a kid- I'm 17 now btw- I remember I was easily scared by stupid things-my imagination being quite active at that time. For example one of my biggest fears was that of statues and manequins. I always thought that they were watching me somehow.

As years passed I grew up and also forgot my childish fear. Well I thought iforgot it. several months ago I heard about the so called slenderman so out of curiosity I searched for it.

At first I thought "meh just some old internet myth". Well aparently it was more than that. For some stupid reason that I can't explain I started researching more about slenderman. So I stumbled upon a youtube channel called MarbleHornets which is full of weird documentaries about this thing. Curios as I am I watched...the whole series. And now I'm scared shitless, I am paranoid that he is watching me.

Even though I know that it is not real and all of this is in my head I still can't stop being scared. Also that stalking part and the fact that he can appear and disappear is also giving me chills. I couldn't sleep last night. However if I do manage to fall asleep I woke up in the middle of the night and then the nightmare starts. My fear may seem stupid(being afraid of a humanoid with no face that stalks you) but how can I get past it? I haven't told my parents because they'll either laugh at me or think that I'm weird. Please help me!

Wow, you sound a lot like me when I was that age... Curiosity killed the cat.

Well, you did the right thing and you're talking to us about it. Your fear isn't stupid; I used to be afraid of dolls - guess why that would be, lol.

I remember that it took me a few months to get rid of the fear, but I didn't look into resources to help me like you are. Maybe if you try re-reading this post a few times over, you could gradually come to realize how unrealistic it is?

I was afraid of Bloody Mary for a while (like I almost broke my stupid self trying to get out of the shower fast when I heard a noise). I'm not looking up what you are speaking of so I don't give myself nightmares. I was banned from scary movies after I spent 2 hours outside my house crying at 1am and made people come over to walk me in. I understand getting afraid of that sort of thing. I usually just try to breathe through whatever is scaring me (bathroom with bloody mary) and try to keep myself focused on other things. Eventually it gets easier and slips from my mind.

I also didn't sleep for a month straight with horrific night terrors every. Single. Night. And lights on because my "bf" of the time liked to scare me . So it might take a while to wear off but it will if you leave well enough alone.

well i know something very vague about bloody mary but from what i know it's way cheaper that this. For example this is just a jumpscare but slendy is psychological horror(which trust me that is waaay harder to deal with). It seems that trying to forget what i saw kinda works but im not entirely "cured" of my phobia.

Believe it or not, I used to have the same exact phobia.
I thought I wasn't scared of Slenderman because I grew up in the forest and I wasn't afraid of things in the forest at night, but then I went on Tumblr and looked up the Slenderman tags, then I also looked at people playing the Slender game and I traumatized myself for a long time. It's been about a year and I'm finally able to walk around without being scared of the trees around my house at night.

I think with fears like these, the best thing to do is give it time. Your mind will eventually handle the fear a lot better with time. You may still have things that trigger the fear, but I promise you'll be able to live life without being scared of Slenderman forever.

I was always scared of grizzly bears like when I was younger I camped out in cali with my uncle & aunt I'll never forget what my uncle Ambrose told me: respect your fear With no fear, you would not feel a need to protect yourself. Once I accepted that as long as I am smart about my actions in the woods I won't have anything to fear

SlenderMan, is indeed a creepy character, when you think about it. The whole morph thing, is a bit bizarre, when you stop and think about it. My son, wanted to be slenderman for Halloween, ended up being a chamo morph. You know, how they say, some fears to overcome, you've gotta go out and do them? For instance, fear of heights, go do something heights related?
I found on youtube, diy slenderman costumes, if you cannot go buy one yourself. Could have some fun with the fear, kwim? If your parents would laugh and call it weird, double conquest?!

Hope you are able to get through this fear...
