You know that feeling of going crazy you get when you're having a panic attack, when you're absolutely sure your mind is leaving you forever? I feel that way all the time now, but I don't have the other symptoms -- I'm not afraid, there's no physical reaction involved, I just have the apparently now-permanent feeling that something is going tremendously wrong inside my head and it's unrecoverable.

Anybody have any tips on what works to fix it? I see my old pdoc for the last time Friday, and am on the cancellation list for the new one, but my appointment with her is not till Jan. 3, unless something comes up sooner. It really stinks feeling crazy all the time, and I could use some relief!

thanks

Candy

Hello I hope you are feeling better at this time. I feel that you need to call your Dr immediately and let the dr know how you are feeling, so that the Dr can adjust your medication. I hope things get better for you soon. Take care sincerely Soidhonia

Distraction is the only thing that works for me in that situation; finding a really interesting book or doing some other complicated activity (cooking/baking?) like working on one of my school papers or going out shopping and being around the "real" world for awhile instead of just stuck inside my head. Talk to other irl people about anything (go to the library and ask the reference librarian's help finding something). Research some complicated item you want at a store or maybe even online, learn some new software?

Hi Candybear,
You need hugs! ((((((((((Candybear)))))))))
But seriously, I'm sorry you're feeling like you're going crazy all the time. I don't think you are-I think you are going through some major adjustments in your life and you're off balance from it. You'll find your grounding soon enough. But if it's really, really scaring you than maybe calling up for an emergency appointment with a/your doctor would be best. Also, could it be something physical? Are you getting enough sleep-have you been taking sleeping pills, if you're on meds, are they the right meds for you? I feel my craziest when I consistently don't get enough sleep. It maybe something like that. Or what else makes me feel crazy is when I've gone a long time without being touched by another human being. (not sexually) That's when I call up for a full body massage. It somehow recenters me. You may need something completely different to help make you feel better but I just wanted to let you know that other factors may be playing a role in helping to make you feel like you're going crazy and they're not neccessarily coming from your psychy first.
I hope you find out the root of it so you can stop feeling like you're losing control.
