You sound exhausted. If your body chemistry leans towards bipolar, it would almost sound as if you could possibly be heading towards a manic or hypo manic state. (Your symptoms, ie not being able to shut off the racing thoughts, do actually sound hypo manic.) both can be brought on by a lack of sleep.
If you get sleep and feel better, problem solved. If you still can't sleep, I'd suggest talking to a doctor. |

Do yourself a favor and if you feel ok mentally, can function, can get to sleep, and this isn't a pattern, don't worry too much unless you can't sleep. As relieved as I am I can function better, sometimes we as society are too quick to judge simple youthful energy as a mental disorder, really. A tired brain isn't at it's best and it's sometimes easy to forget that caffeine we take when tired really can induce anxiety. So skip on that if you are taking it to stay awake, and try n get some good sleep! Edit: Missed the part about this being a pattern. Are you anxious or agitated or both? If cutting down on caffeine doesn't help, yes, maybe time to let dr know to take this seriously. My agitation began in my late 20's, due to meds. Some meds for depression can induce hypo mania in people predisposed to bipolar. Lack of sleep won't help. Be sure and discuss with dr any meds you are on. It saddens me when people have medically induced hypo mania and don't realize that's avoidable with the proper medicine. Good luck! |
