I got off my meds a couple of weeks ago and for the most part things are going well....until it's not.

In general my anxiety is really high and I'm having a panic situation about once a day but everything, including the world around me, seems to be dulled, to the point that any emotion feels extreme and overwhelming.

Occasionally my mind will be so full of thoughts that it is white noise and it actually feels like there are things flying around my brain. Shaking my head makes me feel better but as the title says, I feel like I'm going crazy.

What meds were you on, could you be going through withdrawal?
Thanks for this!

TRIGGER WARNING:

They started making me suicidal. No explanation, just little by little.

I was on these ones for about 6 months (uuuum Lovan), I was on the others for about a year and a half (voxam).
I joke that Voxam gave me turrets and Lovan gave me dementia.
(I was on Zoloft Prior during my teenage years but while on them I became anorexic, bulimic, depressed and suicidal but the people in charge of my life wouldn't let me get off them or change so I'm a little shy about meds)

I started because after 6 years of being suicidal, I had gotten too comfortable with it and my partner and best friend were worried about me.

I'm hoping it's withdrawal because that means it will stop.

Maybe withdrawal? I don't know anything about the meds you mentioned, but whenever I go off meds, I get a rebound effect of anxiety. When I went off Xanax, I was a ball of nerves for awhile until my body stopped relying on the meds. Have you tried taking B-stress vitamins or at least B-12? That helped a LOT for me.
Thanks for this!

What meds. you were on are of key importance? and the dose?
You or your doc or pdoc can't just take you off certain meds. Seriously, these are not SSRI's I am talking about! If they are benzodiazepines That needs to be reduced slowly. Depending on the amount you take. They are very serious!

Actually thinking calcium channel regulators can cause smaller issues normally
Pregabalin, gabapentin-first is Lyrica
But what type of anoxylic are you on> There is a huge difference and your pdoc should know. Regular doc's stay high away from those

Sorry I didn't read the whole thread. You just can't come off a pam=benziodiapam unless on a really low dose for a short period or prn

Plus your dealing with half lives. Xanax is used for acute anxiety attacks. If i looked it up. I bet the half life is 7 hrs Where clonazepam is 40 something and lorazepam even higher

So you need to talk to your pdoc, doc or whoever is the professional you deal with asap!
Tomorrow morning unless you have a script or some other reduction method. Dealing with serious GABA1 that will down regulate unless your doctor tapers you!

My doc got me off them. I went for 3 weeks with alternating suicidal thoughts and high anxiety because we gradually reduced it. 20mg was the starting dose.

When I was 18 I went cold turkey on 3 types of meds. I am NEVER doing that again. You wanna see withdrawal? *shudders*

I have been seeing this doctor for the last 5 yrs (almost as long as I have been an adult), she has been the one to refer me to various professionals and helped me get on my meds and change them the last time (including assessing my situation at the time and advising of the best time to do it).

I cannot make it into her practice with my hours so I am told to call every 2 weeks and she has a dicussion with me about my current state.
We have an amazing rapport and she spent a month trying to get me into the psychiatric program next door to my work but to no prevail.

I am seeing her at the start of next week. We are just trying a "wash out" period at the moment so my progress will be discussed in the appointment. She has advised me to take advantage of my JUST being under 25 and using headspace counselling on top of my current counselling, with which I have an appt at the end of the month.

We need to wait a couple more months and then she can refer me back to an OCD specialist so we are biding our time.
She also knows that I am attending IRL PTSD and anxiety groups and is very encouraging of that. Unfortunately the PTSD group is on hiatus until the end of the month but anxiety group is tonight.

TL;DR My doctor understands my situation VERY well and I have a lot of support coming up, I am just struggling right now while everything is in the pipeworks.

Hang in there, AS... I don't understand how the referral stuff works in Australia. I hope your group can help you figure out some balance while you are waiting to get into other treatment options. One other thing that I did when I was going through the major anxiety issues was to carry a pocket handkerchief that had been daubed with lavender oil. Lavender, as aromatherapy, is calming, and while it's no miracle cure, it did seem to help take the edge off.

You get 10 sessions a year for free but you have to get re-referred after 6 and 10.

Any alternative to lavender because I'm kinda allergic lol.

Things to keep in mind when interacting with me:
1. Do not try to medicate me. I am not on medication for a very good reason.
2. I don't do hugs.
3. If I ask for help, it is because I am at the breaking point, otherwise I have a bad habit of keeping quiet. Please do not brush me off.

Lavender compared to a benzo? You have l-theanine, potassium and magnesium pwds- usually gluconate or citrate. Umm, valerian root, kava kava but only for short periods. It is potent but can be hard on the liver. If it is used excessively. Some say holy basil. I say exercise also and don't remember exactly where you are. As far as others I replied pregabalin and gabapentin. The others are natural supplements. Exercise, no caffeine or simple sugars/ complex carbs- lentils, brown rice, all legumes, pure heated rolled oats, and google is your friend, not really!
