My son was currently taking generic lexapro 10mg prescribed by the family doctor. He was not changing and seemed to be getting worse with his social anxiety which led to binge drinking. Finally got him to see a therapist. The therapist feels his 10mg is too low considering he is about 280lbs. The therapist recommended zoloft and left his family doctor know.
I know he will be very upset with the sexual side effects so does anyone know how to combat that? Has anyone have success stories with Zoloft? I am so hoping he changes back tot he boy he once was. |

hi there. i am a 35 yr old woman and have been taking zoloft for over a year and a half. i started at 50 mg, up to 100 mg, now at 150 mg. I am married with two children and i find that the zoloft helps a lot, it makes it easier to maintain an even mood. I snap less at my husband and yell less at my kids. it helps with social anxiety too, i am not the life of the party but talking to other people is a little easier.
as for sexual side effects, I was worried about that as well. when i started zoloft and as the dosage has increased, there is a period of time of adjustment i think where i am much less interested in sex, enjoy it much less, etc. but it always seems to work itself out after a while and i can enjoy it again. if your son is okay to wait it out a little he may find that it helps him and that that particular side effect goes away. as far as other side effects of zoloft, it has agreed very well with me. i am very tired at the end of the day but that may be more because of my two young kids. hope that helps. good luck! i hope your son feels better.
