It would be almost impossible for you to go into a coma just for a slightly low TSH. I think you'd feel a lot better if you got some sleep.

but when for my age I should have about 2,5, max is 4,2 but I have 7,07 in TSH.. is this is still 'slightly low'? besides this was from my old tests, I'm afraid after about half a year it could get worse :c

If you were going to become comatose you'd be much much sicker than you feel right now. You probably could not be posting for example. Why not call your doctor or t to set your mind at rest until you go back? Remember to take deep breaths, and keep some nice music on. Everything's OK and you're doing great.

hey i understand your fears but thyroid problems are so common these days. Ive had an underactive thyroid for a few years now and i take synthroid everyday. The drs. will make you get a routine blood test every 3 months and you will be monitored just fine. Synthroid is a safe medication that is replacing the hormones your body needs. Most likely your under active thyroid is what has been causing your anxiety/panic. I suffer with it as well. but you should start to feel a little better once your hormones level out.

hey Lovely I took lately blood tests again, and it seems to improved by itself a bit since last time... My TSH is now 3,7, but I googled that it's still too hugh for my age:/ I also took ft3, ft4, and antiTPO, but have to go to specialist with results... I don't trust my doc, she says for everything I go with to her that 'everything is because of anxiety or weather'.. yeah >.>

Good that it's safe med, but is there possibility to chew pill or crush it and drink it? I can't swallow pills, when I have to I have some kind of blockade in my mind and body and I just can't :c and btw do you think or did you ever head depersonalization, obsessive thoughts because of thyroid? I'm feeling totally unreal right now and have creepy thoughts about being possessed, so I wonder if it's by ocd and dd itself, or if thyroid could mess with my mind like that too:c

Getting your thyroid under control can be exhausting . My dr. is the same way with blaming everything on anxiety and weather but i do truly believe that the hypo thyroid is a big reason for anxiety. Ive had anxiety since i was very young but i also have thyroid issues in my family so whos to say i wasnt fluctuating with hyper and hypo all my life? im sure you can crush the pill. Its very tiny but i understand your fear . As for the intrusive thoughts its so strange that you say this only because ive had the same exact fear!!! LOL ive researched alot on it because it was so disturbing and i felt like i was losing my mind but when we have intrusive thoughts like this its because we fear "losing control" and right now with your thyroid issues you feel out of control and so we think of something so scary and disturbing to distract us from what is really happening. You will be fine! sending you hugs!

heh it's the easiest way to say 'its because of weather' so what, shall we go shaman instead? I think it is possible if you have thyroid issues in family, my friend has too, and she has also been anxious even as a kid and doc said she's hypo probably since birth :s but of course easier to give random diagnosis without checking body first, like my doc is doing too eh.
ok good to know that's nice of you, mostly people are laughing at me when I say I can't swallow even the smallest meds-.-
oh my thor yes, fear of 'losing control', I have it all the time >.< so maybe it's really thyroid doing >.< I've been to psychiatrist about 5 days ago and this appointment bring me only more doubts, and I started to feel so unreal, disconnected, like i'm 'not there', not in my body, and I don't know if it's just heavy depersonalization/derealization, anxiety, thyroid, or maybe shizoaffective or something like that.. It's driving me really crazy :c

Hi Lucami,

I think you'll be reassured by looking up hypothyroidism on the web from, for instance, Dr. Andrew Weil.

Best Thyroid Treatment? - Ask Dr. Weil

You'll see that your symptoms are matching up exactly with hypothyroidism. I think you'll also be reassured that thyroid replacement is essentially replacing a hormone that's naturally occurring in your body anyway. I take these myself and I'm not worried about it.

Also, I think that the medical care you have received has unfortunately been LOUSY. I think that you should change M.D.s. I think that just the fact that you don't trust this person anymore justifies changing.

Lucami, can you eat a spoon of apple sauce? You could put the pill in a spoon of apple sauce and never know you're taking it.
Thanks for this!

yeah, only weight gain doesn't match, I love food but even so I'm loosing weight very easily:/ but besides this one thing everything match up. I'm worried meds in general so it's the biggest problem, I've heard it's not like psychotropic drugs, but after side effects of ssri I'm scared even of vitamins :/ eh gotta get over this fear somehow.

yeah she's the worst doc nobody wants to go to her, but going to others it's like 2h of waiting, to mine-5min ... so till I have agoraphobia and panic attack I probably have no other option than just stick with my doc, when I went to other doc month ago after 1,5h of waiting I had very heavy attack that I almost fainted and nurses had to take care of me .__. so have to dealing with one problem at time, than think about changing doc :c

I'm not a fan of apple sauce, but maybe I would try with something else.. are there any types of food that should be never mixed with this meds?

Not that I know of. You could probably put it in any food you can eat without chewing. Pudding, jello, whatever.

Hypothyroid medication should be taken on an empty stomach and no food for 30 minutes after taking it. Vitamin supplements, especially minerals like calcium, magnesium, iron should not be taken within 4 hours of the medication. These things cause the medication to not work.

I have had hypothyroidism for 12 years and didn't like the thought of taking a pill everyday, either. But I am so sick without the pill, that I am happy there is a treatment. I got used to taking a pill every morning, so it's not so bad.
Thanks for this!

klonopine has caused others to have a underactive tyroid. as well as systoms of ibs... its just the side effect of taking a benzo. if your worried about taking meds for the rest of your life, i'd slowwly cut back on benzos. btw levothyroid was hell for me, i stopped taking it and am cuting back on my klonopine and things are getting better. not all meds prescribed need to be taken, i was fine with levothyroid before, and will be fine without it, just take what works best for you, i have turned an ADHD med cause it made kinda crazy, again taking meds that only work for you and be cautous of what you take not every med will be to your benefit, all meds hve side effects, ask yourself can you live with the side effects of the med you are taking.

hey flutterfree, the problem is I never took benzos before.. the one I had were too big and I couldn't crush the pills (can't swallow even the smallest meds) so its not because of this..

Lucami, maybe I shouldn't tell you this, but you can dissolve your benzo by putting it under your tongue and just letting it dissolve. It works very well and they are not bitter (most have a cornstarch binding).

You cannot do this with the synthroid, though, but maybe if you were calmer you could swallow the synthroid without a problem.
Thanks for this!
