My kids are all home(they're adults and live in other states). We have plans to go out ,as a family with some friends for a day of ice fishing. I thought it'd be okay, even fun when I agreed to it but now that it's getting closer, tomorrow, my anxiety is getting out of control. I feel sick to my stomach and I'm kind of panicky. This sucks. I don't even know why I feel so out of control. I can't even think straight. I need to get it together.

Sorry to hear that the get together is causing you so much anxiety. Have you told any of your family about the anxiety that you are experiencing? It may help to have an ally in a group even if they dont fully understand what you're going through. I know it can be difficult to admit to having these issues sometimes.

I understand the frustrations of not knowing why you're feeling this way, its a very unfortunate side effect of anxiety and one that picks away at your self esteem.

Hope things go well for you.

Hello mick,

Looking at your profile- you have been through a lot and you work in mental health too.

Use your best coping strats, distractions, listening to music, something that keeps you occupied and not focusing on the anxiety.

You can also try some relaxation and focus on slowing the breathing down.

I hope you have a good time once you are out with your family.

Take care. anxiety getting out of control
