One of the symptoms of anxiety is worrying about other illnesses, aha. It can get worse or it can't, it depends on the person. You're probably just overthinking it.

My GAD has been getting worse (along with depression) for the last six months. Some days it's extremely hard to function at all and the only thing that keeps me going is taking care of my daughter. Thankfully I go see my doc on Thursday.

my pdoc told me that zoloft is anti-worry, have you talked with him about trying other meds?
half an xanax isnt that much med if you have severe anxiety (atleast its not very much for me) you would want to a professional so they can diagnose and treat you i was very bad before i started medication, i can say the meds take the edge off... you just have to keep trying different meds till you hit the right ones

I suspect you're worrying too much. You might want to have a look at this http://forums.psychcentral.com/depre...n-escaped.html and see post #74 for lots of non-drug things to try that are great for your health anyway. ![]() |

I was diagnosed with GAD and I also fear developing bipolar or schizophrenia, even though there's no reason why I should. I think this is just another aspect to Generalized Anxiety Disorder. You worry, that's the entire point of GAD. So worrying about these things is just another part of the anxiety. They won't actually happen.
Just like how we worry about worst-case scenarios all the time, chances are, they don't happen.

Somehow I learned to take things one day at a time. Even living in the "now" which has helped me stay calm. I don't worry about things too much which lead me down the rabbit hole. Stay in the moment

I was always living in the past (memories) or in the future (expectations). Both of these are painful places to be. It keeps you "stuck" unable to move in the direction you want because you're frozen in anxiety or depressed. Not living in the moment means you aren't taking advantage of what you can do right now. You're too busy thinking about last year or next year, not about what you can do today.
Living in the present moment is the best thing you can do for yourself, and really appreciating each moment and asking yourself what you want to do each moment while focusing on putting yourself in a better mood, that's the key.
