how do you handle this.

when you get anxious for no apparent reason- but you feel like their is a reason. (if that makes sense)

hard for me to find a way because how can i even think about the situation if their is not one.

anyone else

Yes, I get anxious sometimes without real cause. Or I imagine things, but things I'm worried about now are real. Mixed though with even stronger anxiety about things I don't know. I have no idea now how to manage it. I've gone back to smoking but that doesn't help it, it is only temporary relief. I also get on here (way too much lately, but it is a holiday).. and type away my runaway thoughts. I've learned dbt mindfulness, a little, but sometimes that doesn't work either. You can look up dbt online as well.

It's hard for me to answer your question because I am always anxious. I can jump out of my skin with absolutely no provocation at all. Thank God for the meds I take that keep it to a minimum.

Besides that, I do have times when I find myself constantly looking over my shoulder because I'm more anxious than usual. I write it off as paranoia as being the reason. There is no situation that causes this as far as I can tell. It just happens. When it does, I just ride it out. If there's another way to deal with it, I don't know what it is.

For my free floating anxiety I usually try breathing exercises. It was how I was taught to deal with panic attacks years ago.

I found this the other day. It's for kids but it's the same principle as I was taught. You do it ten times and it slows down the heart rate and calms the respiratory system. I hope that maybe it will help you.

A Mindful Minute: 4-7-8 Breathing Exercise for Kids (Video)

Monday, December 29th, 2014
This mindful breathing technique is simple, yet powerful. The best part is it can be done anywhere and requires no equipment whatsoever. Breathing exercises can help shift the nervous system away from fight-or-flight mode (causing racing hearts, sweaty palms, shallow breathing etc.) into rest-and-digest mode (where the body heals and regenerates by performing tasks such as digestion, detoxification, elimination, and bolstering immunity.)
This breathing exercise is a wonderful way to calm anxious states of mind and body. Remember, any exercise should be done to one’s own comfort level.
To try it, watch the video above or follow these instructions:
1. Sit upright on the ground or in a chair.
2. Take a deep breath in through your nose to the count of 4.
3. Hold your breath to the count of 7.
4. Exhale through your mouth to the count of 8.

Honestly, I usually handle it pretty poorly! When I get that I'm just like "MUST GO!!!"... I get really tense and agitated. What helps calm me down? Being at home, alone. Usually reading.

If that isn't an option... I try to find something to keep myself busy and keep my brain occupied.

Distraction. Sudden anxiety hitting me anywhere and I start distracting myself. If I am out and about this can mean breathing, counting or singing exercises, if I am home the net or card games are the easiest distraction.
