so well, I had blood tests.. for 4 years I've been said I have anxiety disorder panic attacks etc, but nobody checked my blood first... and now I have 7,070, when max norm is 4,2... can it be possible that I have such high results because of anxiety? or could I be wrong diagnosed in first place, could anxiety came because of thyroid?... I feel like crying now, I feel like my life is pointless, I heard underactive thyroid can't be really cured, meds for whole f*cking life....

I had under active thyroid and stopped taking synthroid due to panic but my thyroid levels became normal on their own. But that was a long time ago. I need to have it checked again. But no, thyroid levels can change back to normal on their own but it's not a good idea to mess with it too much... I don't think this is helpful, sorry.

I think it's more likely that the thyroid problem is causing your anxiety rather than the other way around, but I'm not a doctor. Are they starting you on thyroid replacement? Taking meds long-term is not so bad--I have a different chronic illness, and it's what I need to keep it under control. And it might make your anxiety more manageable.

Angelique67 so it is possible for cure this? I heard only about curing overactive thyroid, but everyone says underactive isn't possible...

geis no, I had basic TSH, in next week I will have to go to blood tests again to be sure, then meds.. but I don't want to live like that, I can even force myself to taking iron everyday for my anemia.. I have big fear of any meds, have to have liquid because I just can't swallow meds, can't imagine taking them everyday, for a whole life... I have already incurable psoriasis and feel like outcast because of this...

I don't really know but I think the hormone levels can change on their own, also maybe having to do with emotional components. But still, take the synthroid or whatever they prescribe. It isn't a big deal at all. I know you don't want to take it but you'll probably feel better if you do, and it may help the psoriasis, although I'm not certain.

Angelique67 I have to take blood tests again first, but I'm so damn scared of meds and consequences of not treating this.. for me it is big deal, I don't know why, maybe because I tried ssri and it made my anxiety worse, I trusted some ppl and they left me anyway... so now I don't trust people and don't believe in meds.. ;c

I know how that is, lucami. Try not to stress about it though. Synthroid isn't like a psych med at all. Plus it's a tiny tiny pill. You could put it in peanut butter or apple sauce or something if swallowing is hard. And you have to do what you have to do. You have to trust your doctor on this one and get your hormones back in balance. I think you'll probably feel better, less fatigue, less overwhelmed feelings maybe. Less hair fallout. It takes several weeks to start kicking in though.

but what if I would be allergic to it? what if I would skip this med sometimes? I never been systematic.. I don't trust my doc at all, about 5 years ago she said I 'may have' something with thyroid, but she didn't send me to check it.. even when my panic attack have started, no checking why I have them, just you have too much stress? so that's anxiety take psych meds.. now I feel very pissed, maybe I could avoid this hell, maybe I wouldn't lost 4 years of my life.. if it is indeed thyroid, I'll hit her in the face with a brick or something-.- anyway I hope that my another blood test will be ok, maybe it was wrong result or something.. btw is there any way of curing this naturally? like with herbs or something? :c I'm loosing tons of hair lately, but doc I've been to today aid it's because of anemia:/

I don't know the answers to if this can be cured herbally. Not as far as I know. Synthroid doesn't have any side effects at all. It's a very simple med to take. Try not to stress about it. Just do what you have to do to feel better.

ok, I searched in net and found something
'Up until the 1950s hypothyroidism patients were treated with desiccated thyroid taken from pigs. Desiccated thyroid extract is prepared from pig thyroid glands. The glands are dried (desiccated), ground to powder, combined with binder chemicals and pressed into pills. Natural desiccated thyroid (NDT) includes the entire dried gland and its contents, including all four forms of thyroid hormone (T4, T3, T2, T1), RNA, DNA and co-factors. The pig thyroid closely resembles the human thyroid therefore it provides the multiple components missing in hypothyroid patients.'
this sounds interesting. hmm but is synthroid expensive? and does it can cure somehow permanently?

I am damn stressed about this now, my stupid father came back home, my mother told him what doctor said.. and this f*cking idiot said 'yeah you'll die soon' to me and started to yell at me that I'm hypochondriac... now I feel totally scared and like death would be near.. and my heart hurts so much..

See, with thyroid meds, you're not really adding anything foreign to your body--you're just replacing hormones that your thyroid gland used to produce but isn't producing enough of anymore. It's something that would be naturally occurring in your body.

Thanks for this!

I'm sorry that you're going through this! that's upsetting that you weren't checked for this sooner. If it is any consolation, synthroid is simply a replacement of the thyroid hormone itself that your body is not making enough of (T4, also known as thyroxine)

Best of luck to you and keep us updated.

geis yeah but I wonder how my body would act on this, after all it's something synthetic, and wouldn't it be like addition, I mean with time would I have to have bigger dose? :s

thanks AncientMelody if I could just have a time machine and check everything earlier.. but well can't change it now .__. doc gave me referral to doing TSH, FT3, FT4, and a-tpo or something like that, have tiny hope that maybe I won't have underctive after all... so many health problems already, I don't know if I will be able to bear more :c

There are bio-identical thyroid hormones you can take. I haven't been on those myself, so I don't know if you'd need higher doses over time. It's something to ask your doctor about.

ok I think I'll go to endocrinologist with my blood tests instead of my doc and ask him about it

btw does underactive thyroid can make me feel like I wold have a cold/flu? today I feel sick, have hoarse voice, pain in minuscules and bones, kind of pain on the end of the throat and under collarbones, but doctor said yesterday that I'm ok.. so now I'm freaking out why I feel like that, and I'm afraid that maybe I'm dying or something.. :c

Everything is OK. You are just having anxiety, but there's really nothing to worry about. Thyroid hormone replacement therapy is easier than taking an aspirin. Really nothing to worry about. You'll be fine until you get to the doctor.

You're not an empty body without a soul, just experiencing panic. Try to take long deep breaths and let them out slowly. Do you have some music you could put on?
