I went to turn in an excuse for being absent yesterday and i was feeling good and kinda confident before actually walking into the office but once i got up to the other student in the attendance office i paused awkwardly my anxiety was being dumb and i tried to speak up quickly to not be weird and ended up saying kinda quiet and high pitched "is-is this-can i turn in an an excuse? " really quickly and did a really weird like...over exagerated blink i don't know wHY and he said yeah to just write my ID so i shakily grab a pen and turn it around to write,But it's cap is still on and i was trying to write with the wrong end and i uncapped it and wrote it can he said tthanks and i kinda nodded and quietly and with voice cracks said "thAnkS."
Man i feel so dumb , THIS is just me talking about my dumb anxiety and feeling horrible and embarrassed and I'm sure the attendance guy already forgot but oh my god this was so humiliating.

Hey. that sounds like many people I know in an awkward social situation. In a month or two that may not even be a memory.
My own preoccupation with what people thought of me, my therapist drew out how much that stemmed from overbearing parents with super control and no flexibility. Therapy helped me to get my life back and not just be living in the shadow of my parents. Sometimes I calm myself with this: Quote:

I often get tongue tied in situations like that, and I'll get really hot and my face starts flushing. It sucks.
