I have irrational fears that don't let me sleep at night. Fears of demons, fears of seeing something I don't want to see. I sleep with the light on many nights.

Sometimes, I'll be about ready to fall asleep and I'll get a creepy feeling and have to turn on the lights.

I also have panic attacks... I wonder, is this just another part of anxiety or do you guys think maybe I should look into another disorder for the cause?

P.S. - it may help to know I've seen and read alot of horror in my lifetime. Always liked it, even though I hate being scared. It's strange.

Fruitylooper, I have irrational fears too. I use to be afraid of the dark but have grown out of that since I had children of my own and had to be able to calm their young fears, it kinda of helped me too.

My irrational fears now are just that totally irrational, sometimes silly ones like I'm afraid I'm going to get lost if I'm going somewhere alone or afraid someone is about to do something but can never work out just what.

Reading horror will most proberbly play into your already existing fears, but also maybe your trying to face the devil before he faces you kinda of thing, by reading such stuff???

Therapy is a good way of dealing with this fears and finding the route courses. Good luck.

Hello FL.
I am sorry you are faced with such anxiety at night. MOUSE is very correct that therapy is very good at helping you to calm down at night or when you have anxiety. Having a physical at this time may not hurt either. A lot of my episodes are sugar related and I have hypoglycemia, so stress is one of the main reasons that i have strange dreams, or anxiety. A therapist can help you to get a diagnosis and help you to control the thought patterns you may be having by facing the fears you may be having at this time. Journaling is very helpful and so is exercise as long as it is done a few hours before bed. I hope things get better for you soon. Take care and good day. Soidhonia
