I know how absurd this sounds but I always involuntarily feel anxious for things I like. If I like a movie I worry If enough people watched it or it made the money it deserves. If I like a book I worry for its and it's author's popularity. I worry if the shows I like will get enough seasons and if enough people have interest in science etc. This thing extends to everything else and I don't feel better even when those expectations are met.

It's like every moment of happiness is followed by greater amount of distress and no matter how much I try I can't stop it or find a reason behind it

I always judge the media i consume, as if its not good enough. I know that's different than what your anxiety dictates. I get upset when a perfectly good show goes in a direction I don't like, or a band I like makes music that I don't think is good enough. I shoot things down and criticize, when I wish I could just take things as they are. You sound you want the things you embrace to have more positive outcomes, whereas I want to shoot things down and disassociate from them when things don't work as they should.
Thanks for this!

We don't have to seek some sort of "approval" from others.

I'm not like everybody else. What's interesting to me might be troublesome for you. What I like, you might not even have heard about before.

What's the deal? Reading some reviews may help you decide whether say, you're going to watch a specific movie. But I've watched some 3-star movies that really resonated with me.

I don't look for people's approval before doing something. I start craving it for it afterwards if I like that thing.

I know people are different and like different things and can't see a reason why this happens. Yet this "habit" doesn't go away.

You realise of course that there is nothing you can do to affect the outcomes of the things you worry about?

Things just have to take care of themselves; it usually works out OK, but if it does not it is not your fault.
