In my youth I have lived in a highly dysfunctional family, my father beat me when I was a in first grade (later he stopped) but my parents fought all the time. This was the time when I have experienced something I cannot identify to this day. It came on sudden and it was as if there was a buzz in my ear and time got speeded up. It was a little similar when a movie projector malfunctions and starts sliding the film and the pictures got faster but unclear. It was somewhat unpleasant and quite scary at first, then after a 5-10 minutes it went away. I was reading about anxiety or panic attacks but it seems that this was not one of those. Anyone else had something similar to this? It had stopped for a long time but I am curious what it could have been.

Tinnitus? Dunno. Not certain if it's something that can be tested. I know neurology has an Auditory Evoked Potential test they can order, just not certain what it's meant to diagnose? Worth speaking with your primary, maybe?
Thanks for this!

Hi, I'm not sure I can help you because I have never been through all that buzzing and movie projector thing! But my dad use to beat me too! He started when I was about 6, and stopped when I moved to Miami (less than 2 years ago)! I have anxiety problems, and I have panic attack all the time, and I never felt any of those things! But lately I had some hallucinations, I have been seeing people that aren't there, and I had some weir dreams, that I don't know how to wake up from them! Sometimes I don't even know If I am dreaming or if I am awake! And my therapist keep telling me that this can all be because of my anxiety! So I guess what you are having can be the "same" thing! You should try talk to a therapist! They might help you with that!
I hope that was somehow helpful!
Ps. I'm sorry for my english! I'm not from here.

I actually have this but it gets worse when I have psychosis. I have it all the time and have had it for years and I have had my ears checked and I'm still young and don't listen to anything loud.

Thanks, I do not think it is an auditory (tinnitus) only when it occurs there were some auditory aspects. I think it was some mental maladies manifesting. I have not had it since. I moved away from home at age 22. It only happened while I was living at home. I told my mother and she took me to some therapist and I even took some meds (for anxiety or nervousness)
