The last couple of days I've been seriously considering a new therapist. I read about cognitive behavioral therapy and decided I should probably be talking to someone who uses this. My current therapist is good. I just kinda get the feeling that other than some breathing exercises and a tapping technique (that I couldn't get around to trying because I lost the paper), that there isn't a 'next step'. I could be wrong tho, idk. Anyway, do you guys worry about finding a psychologist or a therapist? Does the difference really matter that much? And does anyone else have experience with CBT?

I do have experience with CBT and it wasn't exactly good. But I won't generalize and say they're all the same, perhaps my T was terrible at what she did and that was it.

She teached me breathing exercises, made me keep some kind of "diary", talked a lot and basically told me what to do with my life.

One thing you should take into consideration is that generally they're not against meds at all, in fact they consider using them in pretty much all cases.

I didn't busgirl. my therapist that I have now taught me cbt and rebt. I would think it would matter that much cuz a psychologist has a master's degree in psychology and a therapist has a master's degree in counseling . my therapist has a bachelor's of arts degree in psychology, a bachelor's of science degree in nursing and and a master's degree in community agency in counseling . my therapist taught me cbt in counseling its the way how you can change your negative thinking into positive thinking .I was taught which cognitive distortions and how to untwist my negative thinking by identifying the cognitive distortions and what steps I would use to identify which of the positive thinking patterns to use to not to repeat them again. also my therapist taught me rebt which means rational emotive behavior therapy . this one is very involving and time consuming cuz of the abcd steps involved .A = Activating event B= Behavior C= Consequences D= Dispute

Diagnosis : Anxiety and depression
meds : Cymbalta 90mgs at night
Vistrail 2 25 mgs daily for anxiety prn
50 mgs at night for insomnia
