I've been feeling generally anxious over the last few days and I know why. I recently decided to join a new social group based on a favorite past time of mine, nudism. It's my first time perusing this past time in group form and it's gotten me all anxious just thinking about it. I already have social anxiety issues. I know this is what I want to do, I just don't want my anxiety to prevent me from enjoying myself.

Any techniques to calm the nerves? I would drink chamomile tea but I am not a huge fan of teas outside of Chai.

Oh yeah, I almost forgot about deep relaxation breathing. I had a past therapist teach me this technique. Thanks!

Listening to calming music or sounds help, too.

Silva Method. Imagine a green board and a red chalk. Count from 100 to 0 and each time breath deeply and exhale while mentally saying (Im calm, I'm relaxed, I'm in complete health). I also imagine that my anxiety is green smoke that I vomiting with each exhale and I clean myself.

If you have a smart phone there is an app called CALM. Someone guides you through your breathing for 10 mins. I do it every night before I go to bed. Sometimes when I'm feeling anxious I try to remember what I learned the night before. Also it sounds silly but I blow bubbles, it slows down your breathing and makes you focus on the bubbles.

Ironically my 1st experience at a nudist resort was very liberating and I felt less anxious nude than I might have been had I been wearing clothes . What bothered me most and this could have happened anywhere was my lack of a companion . I always seem to focus on pairs and feel self conscious that I am a solitary .
