Dont know where to start.

I left my job a week ago to persue another opportunity that I am really looking forward too. I planned it so that I could take a week of between the end of my last job and before I start this new job.

For the most part the week has been pretty chill. Took my oldest daughter to the DR for am acne issue, etc, blood test for allergy tests and stuff. Anyway, I called my pharmacy to have my RX refilled for my effexor on the 12th of June so I could refill before I started my new job because it would be too hard to try and have it refilled next week. I just like to have things done so I dont have to wait until the last minute and then really freak out. Anyway, my pharmacy faxed the dr office on the 12th and I went to pick up an rx for my daughter on the 14th and asked if my effexor was ready and they told me that my DR office never responded. So they refaxed a request to them on the 14th. On the 15th I called the pharmacy to see if they received a response from the DR office and again they told me NO they had not. I confirmed with the pharmacy that they were faxing to the correct DR office. So I called the Dr office yesterday at 11:33 am and left a detailed message that I was concerned as my pharmacy faxed 2 RX refill requests and they have not received a response. In addition I have 7 days left and did not want to wait until the last minute. I asked that they please contact the pharmacy and I even left a number for them. I also asked them to call me back to confirm receipt of the message.

Well I never heard back from the DR office. So I called my pharmacy again, and again they say that they received no call from the DR office. So fortunately my DR office also runs an Urgent Care (large practice) so I called today and spoke with a lovely girl name Maggie who pulled my chart while I was on the phone and assured me she would hand walk my chart to the DR and have the RX called in. I felt relieved.

Well 10 minutes ago I receive a call from "Usef" fromthe DR office who advised me that Dr. Javed. (The Dr I was seeing for my Meds) is no longer there and there is nothing in the chart to indicate that refills were authorized. ???????????????????????????????????????????????????????????

I told Usef that Dr. Javed tld me when I was in a month ago that when I needed refills to contact the office and she would call in 6 months worthe. He said there was nothing in the chart. He said that I needed to make an appointment with another DR in the practice as Dr. J is no longer there and it had to be this week so I didnt run out of meds.

Now my head feels like your stomach does when you go on a rollar coaster because I start my new job on Monday and I do not have leway to take off and go to my Dr. office for an appointment to get a refill on my meds when I was just there a month ago. It is not my fault the Dr is no longer there or that my chart was not properly Documented. I can not take off in my first week of work. I am so enraged right now. My heart is pounding and I am so incredibly pissed. When were they gonna contact me about this? How many faxed requests for refills were they going to let slip by before they contact me to let me know this. I have been off this whole week!!!!!!! If they had called me on the 12th, I would have been able to get in and get this straightened out but they dropped the ball big time on this and I am pissed. I cant even breathe.

Oh that stinks! I'd be pretty annoyed about that too. I hope you got some sort of an apology for this.

Sending hugs, .(((((((( jmo )))))))) .

what a ****** doctor to not notify all of his patients that he was leaving the practice and your care would be by Dr.Blank and Dr. Blank would be up to snuff on all of his old patients. i've been a patient advocate and if you want me to trace the idiot doctor down for you, i will. i don't use "Dog" tactics, but, damn,i'm good....... .

I certainly appreciate that. I emailed the Dr's office and it said I would receive a response in 48 hours so I am waiting to hear back on that. Please see below of copy of the email I sent. I'm not sure if I was firm enough, or too firm.

This is the email:

To whom it may concern:

My name is Jenifer ******-DOB 05/31/**** and I am a current patient at "Blank". I saw Dr. Javed a little over a month or two ago where we decided to sustain my Effexor XR dosage at 187.5 mgs instead of increasing to 225 mgs. As previously discussed.

At the time I had one refill remaining and Dr. Javed advised me that when I ran out of my Effexor XR refills to contact the office and she would authorize a 6 month refill because I was just there so I could get my medication refilled.
On June 12th my pharmacy contacted "Blank" by fax requesting a refill of my Effexor XR at the 150 mg and 37.5 mgs. For a total dosage of 187.5mgs. I went to the Target pharmacy on June 14th to see if they had filled my Effexor and I was told that "Blank" never responded to the faxed request and they would refax it then while I was in the store. On June 15th I called the pharmacy back and was advised once again "Blank" never responded to the faxed request for medication refill. I then called "Blank" Nurse/RX line and left a detailed message asking them to please contact my pharmacy to call in the refill and I even left the pharmacy telephone number. I also requested a call back which I never received. I contacted the pharmacy again this morning and again they advised that "Blank" has yet again not responded. I contacted the urgent care and spoke to "Blank". She was very helpful and assured me that she would have someone take care of this.
I received a call back from "Blank" who advised me that Dr. Javed was no longer with "Blank" and that if I needed a refill I needed to make an appointment to come in next week to see a Dr. so that my RX didn't run out.

I have a huge problem with this on many levels.
First off, this isn’t the first time I have had a problem getting my prescription filled with this office. No one ever advised me that Dr. Javed was no longer with the practice...again. I was just there a month or two ago and I do not see the need to come back in and to be charged a fee, which is applied to my deductable just so I can get my prescription for my Effexor XR refilled when I was told that the RX could be called in.
I do not have the means to take off any time in these upcoming months as I start a new job on June 18th.
I am completely unsatisfied with the way this situation has been handled by "Blank". The medication I am taking can not be abruptly stopped and it seems that the office is not at all concerned about whether I had enough medication to last me or not.
I know that things of this nature can happen from time to time. It is the nature of the business. However, I have personally tried to take care of this, together with my pharmacist and have received no cooperation of any sort from "Blank".
Please pull my chart. You will see that I was just in a few months ago. March-April. I can not quite recall. Anyway, I need my prescription called in Monday. I do not have enough medication to last me. If a DR visit is required I can only come at 5:15 pm or later as I am starting my new job. Please contact me as soon as possible about this at xxx-xxx-xxxx(cell) or my home # at xxx-xxx-xxxx.

Thank you.

That was it. I didn't want to be too harsh but I certainly wanted them to know I was upset. This whole situation has caused be so much anxiety. I journaled earlier so I could get it all out. Sheeeesh.

Thank you for your replies. Pat, I will keep you posted. I may need your involvement if corrective action is not taken.

Thank you

Thank you Pegasus. I appreciate that.

Right now I am feeling way anxious. Starting my new job today was hard enough. But then I had to contact the office manager today regarding my medication refill and she took all my information and called me back and left a message on my voicemail stating that the other Dr's in the practice signed off on the refills and that the nurse would be calling it in this afternoon. That was a huge sigh of relief for me, right?

Well no it wasn't because I called Target 10 minutes ago and was told once again that the RX was not called in, only the ativan that I had refills on. So, again I call the damn Dr's office and ask to speak to the manager only to be hung up on in the transfer. So, I call back and this time was sucessfully transferred and told the office manager that the RX has not been called in. I told her that this whole situation is causing me a tremendous amount of anxiety and I am extremely upset. I told her that if a physician is leaving the practice, some sort of notification needs to be mailed to all the patient advising such so that situations such as these do not happen. She told me that Dr. Javed is actually finishing out her schedule for the month of June. She will there every Friday and Tuesday until the end of the month. Well, this is even more confusing to me know because why the hell has she not been involved. I am livid.

I will write more later when I can calm down. I'm sorry.

AWWWWWWWWW MAN! I can relate!! My Dr's office is always so lax about returning the okays for refills! . I have to start a week ahead of time calling the pharmacy AND the Dr's office to get any response at all from the Dr's office!! :head_bang:

Take a deep breath, Hon! Don't bust an artery over this. Just use your anger to get something possitive done. You could even go after the Dr. Doesn't their creed start with "FIRST, do no harm"?????

One of the girls at my pharmacy made an observation "There are too many people in the profession that don't have the compassion it takes to be in it in the first place." How true!
