Hi bob101,
I don’t know anything about escitalopram and I’m not sure what can and cannot be mixed with it. If you’re interested in a natural source, ginger anything is wonderful for nausea. I swear by ginger tea, candy, and even the raw root for my own nausea issues. I don’t think it would react weird with your med but I’d definitely run it by your doc just to be safe. Best of luck with it all and I hope you feel better soon. Take care. ~ Bee

I read one page that said 15% of people get nausea with Lexapro. I know that doesn't "help" but it's the #1 side effect so maybe a little calming to know you're not alone?
Too, another site said, "Patients taking LEXAPRO typically have mild to moderate side effects which tend to go away with continued treatment." As to what to do: "Often, simple changes to your diet can help you to significantly reduce your symptoms of nausea. If you are feeling nauseated or have been vomiting, it is important to keep as hydrated as possible. If you lose too much liquid your body can lose important electrolytes that it needs to function. Drink only clear liquids for the first 12 hours after vomiting. Avoid caffeinated beverages and all dairy products. "Certain foods that help nausea are also a good thing to try. Eating starchy foods, like crackers, helps to absorb excess stomach acids. Sucking on crystallized ginger can also help to reduce nausea. Avoid citrus fruits, juices, and other acidic foods, as this will increase your nausea. Gradually introduce solid foods after 12 hours, beginning with applesauce and working your way up to breads, cereals, and eventually, protein products." Don't know about how well any of those will help. I'd ask your doctor, maybe your dose isn't right?

My nausea from lexapro mostly disappeared after about 5 weeks. In the meantime, maybe switching the time of day you take it may help or try licorice tea, ginger tea or even peppermint tea.
Best of luck. ![]()

I think everyone is different in this respect. I agree with checking with your doctor on what can and can't be mixed with your meds. As far as citrus goes, lemonade actually helps me when I feel a little nauseous. I pretty much lived on the stuff when I was pregnant.
Good luck! |
