I haven't posted in a while....working too much.Lately I have noticed a lot more palps, like my heart will jump suddenly , scares me to death. I have not really had too many of these with anxiety before. Also sometimes not always my heart will race afterwards.

I have been to the doctor in december I had the echo, wore the holter monitor and my results were fine, just a few rare pac's. Heart rate from 60 to 120 during the 24 hours.

I take a beta blocker with my anxiety meds and my doc says to increase it a little when the palps are bothersome. I just wonder how many of you get the palps with panic attacks????? Its hard for me to guess which comes first the palp or the panic attack. I will also get very sweaty above my behind...I feel silly adding that...lol. Just wondering if you have any helpful hints for getting your mind off the palps once they start.....or what meds you take. I am very sensitive to ssri's so am currently taking klonopin, small amount of celexa and the beta blocker also take magnesuim for the palps.

Thanks for reading......will be interested in reading your replies.

Hugs, angel

<font color=red>Heart palaptations is a normal symptom of anxiety, almost everyone who has ever had anxiety or a panic attack almost always get that. I also sometimes have had almost like chest pains. I also when i'm really anxiety ridden I get a tight chest.

The best way to deal with the palaptations is to do abdominal deep breathing, doing that will get it regular again. The more you worry about it the worse it will get.

If you expierence a tightness in the chest, open up your rib cage by pulling back your shoulder blades and breathing deeply, that will help.

Medication does help for anxiety symptoms, but not all of them .... that only helps so much. Whatever is making you anxious has to be faced otherwise it will never go away. I've been dealing with anxiety for 8 yrs and i'm basically anxiety and panic free....

Self help books help too.

I've also been sensitive to meds recently as well. The medications i've been on was Zoloft for 8 yrs, Celexa for 6 weeks (it wasn't working out even on a small dose, still felt like crap) now i'm currently on Remeron, and it's been doing wonderful things for me, mainly for depression, ptsd, but also for anxiety as well.
I've also been on tranqulizers, both lorazepam and clonazepam, but i've only taken them a couple of times in the past 8 yrs.

I too have gotten heart palps as well. It freaked me out before even made the doctor give me an EKG which was normal. So I now when I get them I tend to not worry to much about it.

Hi, Angel

I am not sure of the heart pulps are, though I know my pulse has been very high during time of extreme anxiety. I was on an inpatient psych ward once and they checked our vitals regular, and I was having a hard time and my pulse was something like 147 and It freaked me out (which probubly added to it) only they took my blood pressure and assured me that the blood pressure was more important and that it was ok and they took the vitals again in 15 minutes and my pulse rate was down. Since I have had many EKG's all normal, and an ECO which was ok. Though when I do get pain in my chest I do still worry, only talk myself down. It is difficult at times.

I hope you are feeling better, and have a good day

Take Care,
Kris Heart palps and anxiety????

<font color=purple>The side effects were great, barely any, the only ones that I did get was increase in apetite that only lasted really a day or 2, and the major one was sedation, which is nothing compared to the lists of side effects that you get from most drugs. Remeron so far what i've seen, read up on and expierenced had only a couple lines of side effects, and zero sexual side effects which is nice. I did I think gain a couple pounds, but that wasn't a bad thing since I was under 100lbs for so long, and i'm about 108 now. Which is healthy. Alot of people do gain but as a side effect they usually loose it. I think with me it's just from getting older, and it could be from the pills, and the lack of exercise, and my metabolisim is slowing down. I use Remeron for anxiety, ptsd and depression. But it's not an SSRI, i've been on SSRI's which work for me, but some people do have problems with it. This is by far the best medication i've ever been on.... <font color=purple>
