Unless i have to be at work by a certain time I really struggle to get up in the morning. At the moment I am working flexible hours and from home so this is a real problem. I'm not so depressed as to feel paralysed in the morning, but I do feel REALLY anxious. The sense is that while I'm asleep I'm not aware of any demands on me - nor are there any choices or decisions to make. It all seems a lot safer! So - I keep going back to sleep... Does anyone else deal with something like this, and/or have any suggestions to make?

The morning is the absolute WORST time for me. I wake up and quickly figure out where I am in life and I feel the panic set in. I just got out of a 7-month relationship, we moved in together in May and now I'm having to move OUT just 2 months later. I asked that he leave for a few weeks while I find a place, so I have to wake up in the apartment we shared each morning. The only thing that helps is talking to other people, but often, it's first thing in the morning and there's no one up. Plus, I don't want to bother anyone. I used to nap all of the time when I was depressed...it's a way to check out for a while. The only think that works for me is getting in touch with a friend...does that usually work for you? You're not alone...

I'm wondering what your bedtime routine is and whether that is affecting your quality of sleep?
Thanks for this!

Pretty bad... I have none. I get jacked up at night and finally get around to doing stuff I'v procrastinated on earlier. Also, I intersperse the stuff I'm meant to be doing with internet surfing and other distractions. I know its bad to use electronics for some hours before bed too. But...have to get around to doing my work. Also get pretty tense. I DON'T WANT to go to bed... Kind of like a child would be...only I'm nearly 40

Sometimes I use a lavender scent, or something to relax and begin to feel able to turn in.

But I'm not sure if it has to do with quality of sleep. I just feel this dread at the idea of 'meeting the day'.

Some anti depressants wind one up resulting in a fitful sleep. They may also trigger disturbing dream activity.

I have a good sleep schedule, but I awaken with terrible anxiety.

I'm sorry you are having anxiety. I totally relate to not wanting to go to bed. The only thing that knocks me out is Geodon. Otherwise I just will stay up all night because my brain says stay up while my body is tired.

Thinking of you. xo
