My anxiety has been off the charts lately and it's unbearable especially with the holidays. I'm a wreck. I'm snapping on everyone and extremely irritated. Well my T wants me to try breathing exercises and meditation. I prefer guided meditation but also like sounds like rain, waves, etc. But I don't have much experience in breathing techniques and I don't even know where to find guided meditation stuff anymore.
So does anyone have any tips on resources I can use like apps, YouTube or podcasts? Any tips on where/how to do this would help. |

I don't know if this is what you're looking for but I really like Dr. Jeffrey Thompson's work. Own quite a few of his releases and listen to some others on Spotify.

I really recommend you the guided meditations of Michael Sealy. This guy is awesome! For me his meditations work everytime. He has a youtube channel and you can download the meditations with programs like vidtomp3 or other free programs. Now I have a lot of meditations on my mp3 and I listen to them before I go to sleep.

I do the 4-beat counting method.
I find the rythym of the sound and breathe in and out each to the count of four. I breathe deeply - put your hand on your abdomen and make it rise as you inhale. Generally, spa or easy listening music has a fairly long and slow beat. If you find one isn't, perhaps select something else. I have found 'weight therapy' to be extremely soothing. I can't afford a weighted blanket. But, my therapist had me make a heavy bean bag out of a long knee-hi sock. I drape this over a shoulder if I need to soothe myself. |
