Have you ever felt this way: you are anxious that you might be sick and part of you want to go to the doctor, but another part of you feels that if you go to the doctor, you might have some kind of illness because of the many sick people visit the clinic? I know it's not justified, and I usually go to the doctor, but I always struggle with these conflicting thoughts before I go. And sometimes I keep thinking about minor things that happen during the visit and get anxious over it the whole day.

No... this is not a concern I have had. What I always think about is... is whatever problem I think I have really a problem... or am I just imagining it? Or even if it's real... will it just go away by itself if I just wait a few days? This has happened with me enough that I now tend to discount any symptoms I develop figuring that, if I just wait a few days, it'll go away by itself.

I agree. When I said if I feel I might be sick I meant when there are some persistent symptoms. But then I get anxious I might get other diseases from the clinic.

If you are that concerned try to get to the clinic early. I make my appointment first thing in the morning and when I arrive tell the person at the desk I am early. Usually I do not have to wait at all. I don't like sitting in clinic room chairs so I just stand and walk around a bit if the waiting room is large. This works. I am usually not in the office for more than 20 minutes. With your symptoms of anxiety you might try to go early in the day to the clinic. It sounds like you could use a check-up to make sure the anxiety is not from any physical problem.

In my experience, your problem is a common one...lots of people feel the way you do about a doctor's visit. Getting there early is a good idea, I think.

I actually do that now. Before, I was going in the afternoon, and I was waiting for 2-4 hours depends on the number of patients. But even early, you need to sit in the waiting room for at least 30 minutes until they register some patients and retrieve their files. Also, I have the fear of doctors themselves because they check other patients
