I'm just curious, does anyone else ever experience show-stopping fear without much in the way of physical anxiety symptoms?
Often cited are: blushing, difficulty breathing, excess sweating, nausea, palpitations, and trembling In the past I have blushed, or felt nauseous, or had my heart race. So I'm capable of it. But for years now I just get tense and maybe a bad feeling in the pit of my stomach. That's it physically. But the mental state can be paralyzing. As in, I just cannot do it. So I doubt other people see it, unless I get a deer-caught-in-the-headlights look or can't conceal that I was trying to do whatever it was. Anyone else? (I'm not posting this in one of the anxiety disorder forums because I don't think I clinically have that. However I have some serious avoidant issues. Also, I'd just like to cast a wider net, because everyone is scared silly at sometime in their life.) |

I've felt fear and PTSD triggers, yet I almost never feel or notice any physical symptoms from it.
The only time I feel any physical symptoms of fear is if I feel like somebody poses a physical threat to me, which thankfully, almost never happens to me. So yeah, I can relate. |

My anxiety/panic attacks tend to not have any if many physical symptoms. Because of that for years I have denied to myself that I have an anxiety disorder. It's only been in the last year or so that I've realized it's an issue for me. Most commonly, physical symptoms I might have are slight nausea, and physical tension. Sometimes trembling if it's a longer attack.
I experience panic attacks quite often, where no one even knows I'm having them. I had one yesterday at work actually, but was able to get it under control, a couple weeks ago I had to go home early because of one. The mental/emotional impact is extreme though. My thought process goes wild. Catastrophic thinking, loss of focus and concentration. If I can't get it under control quickly, I have to change my environment.

I actually show more physical symptoms just being normal nervous. When it comes to worse anxiety, I don't have as much physical symptoms. When it comes to the worst panic attacks I don't know if I have physical symptoms cuz the dread is so big I don't care about my body.

When my anxiety is at its peak, my whole body goes rigid, I tingle, sweat and feel like I'm going to keel over. Day to day my anxiety gives me all sorts of aches and pains, I think its probably because I am so tense all of the time.
